Hold that thought until you've been in San Diego area. Very nice climate next to the ocean (but pricey).

From Kingman you'll have a beautiful drive east on I-40. Do stop in at the Little America in Flagstaff just to check out the showers.

Next stop will likely be close to Tucumcari, with a Love's and a Flying J. Beware some of the rest areas listed in the Truck Stop guide along the way may be closed.

When running through Texas be sure to stop about an hour east of Amarillo at the rest area. Very nice.

    Enjoy the run.

Stayed in Tucumcari several times and I agree with you about the Amarillo stop. Recommend as well.

Stopped at the Loves in Tucumcari. 9 3/4 hrs and 604 miles. I stopped a few times at a couple Indian gift places. Had to get the Wife a few knick knacks.... I didn't stop at Little America. It snuck up on me and I missed the exit. So I'm hoping for a few more miles tomorrow....unless I stop for that steak!!
I could have gotten another hrs in today... but wanted to get parked around 6pm and get a shower in before it was too busy. I've found that if you get in before 6, I don't have to wait for a shower... works so far!

    Beautiful ride so far.

From a previous post you made it sound like you were headed home because the touring company is done with the show right? So what will you do next? Get on another tour? Just curious.

And of course if I just misunderstood your gig that's cool too haha.

I just finished running from the last rest stop in California on I-40 to the rest stop at mile marker 252 in New Mexico (between Moriarty and Santa Rosa). I started at 5:00 pm and the temperature climbed to 110ºF by the time I crossed the Colorado River by Lake Havasu City, AZ. As the sun set and by nightfall running through Flagstaff the temperature had dropped to 50ºF, a difference of 50 degrees!

One thing I love about running nights on I-40 through Arizona and New Mexico is that it is rare to NOT see any meteors. Last night I had two spectacular meteors, one that split into two on the way down, near the AZ/NM border.

Yeah, stopping at some of the Indian trinket shops is pretty cool, as long as it doesn't say "Made in China" on the bottom.... :D :D :D

You remember right. The tour is over till January. Well, there are 4 'Finals' dates they asked me to drive for. So I'm done for a couple weeks, then back till mid July. So I am looking for a permanent job to start in mid July. They asked me to come back next year.... but I have to work...so I'm gonna find a 'real' job. I would like to be home more too. Every week or two would be nice. This 5 weeks was hard on the Wife....

I'm stopped at 'Blackwell Truck Stop' in Macedonia, Arkansas for the night. Exit 101 on I40. 10 hrs and 630 miles. It's my first time at a 'mom and pop' type truck stop. I've stayed mostly at Loves. The loves near here had some bad reviews so I thought I would try this place. Clean showers with awesome water pressure. I had a pork chop, a roll, fries and scalloped potatoes that were awesome. An incredible bargain at 5.95 too Might have to go try the Baskin Robbins ice cream before bed! Lol. Very friendly folks. I can see why, most of the.truckers here are extra portly.... I think I'm back in the south!! At least western south....
    Free WiFi too....
