Your IP lists you as being in Tajikistan. Where exactly is that? Are you currently in the United States?

 

It's not really so hard to believe. The guy's an immigrant, and when he started, his English skills were probably weak. He comes to meet a fellow immigrant wo speaks Turkish, who connects him with this company. Not speaking English well and having no idea how thing CAN work here, he gets convinced that this opportunity is good, and he goes to work for them.

Getting money back from Amazon is difficult even in the BEST of circumstances. Add in a fly-by-night company into the mix, and who knows how long this is going to take. His company may've kept the money and screwed Amazon....who knows. Not trying to be a jerk, but I think the OP will have to expect that it will likely take a year or more to get his money back. hopefully he'll be able to make ends mee in the meantime. But, really, he needs a job with a REAL paycheck; those 1099 positions are questionable even for guys who KNOW what is going on legally (in fact, guys who understand the legal system RARELY take such positions...).

So, to the OP, welcome, best of luck working a REAL job in the future, and good luck in you lawsuit. Consider this a learning experience, and know that the person MOST likely to steal your money is nearly always also an immigrant in a similar situation. Let others form your immigrant community learn from your misfortune, and maybe the scam artists will find fewer suckers.

Nobody should be confused why this happens over and over. Newbies do zero research and they believe every word from any stranger. They work for whatever company tells them the biggest lie and just assume someone else will protect them from bad decisions. They assume some govt office is in charge of getting their money back or putting liars out of business. Just because some newbie would not lie to an employer it doesn't protect the newbie from an employer telling him lies.
NOBODY BUT YOU IS PROTECTING YOU FROM BAD EMPLOYERS. Make decisions like the outcome is important, not like someone will ride to your rescue no matter what you do. When you are a child it is reasonable to assume most adults will protect you. When you grow up, it is your job to protect you.
