Annual maintenance is to replace filters and make sure glow plug is clean. Also recommended 'unofficially' to run 45 minutes on highest setting with clear, unscented K1 kerosene. A one pint container may last 2-3 years.

Most failures of Espar heaters are from lack of normal maintenance. A ticking sound should be heard from the fuel pump, that is normal.

Which filters should I replace? And are they pretty easy to replace? I could pick them up later today in Amarillo Freightliner, my usual spot for random parts when running 40.

Its a little white filter inline just above the fuel tank. Like the gas filter on a lawn mower.

Obsolete liquid? I wonder what all these salamanders are running on? Aircraft run on a kerosene derivative, too.

Kerosene runs about $3.55 a gallon around here. Little heater I have will run around 24hrs on a gallon. I normally light it for a few hours in the morning.
