The light comes on regardless of what the heater is working or not.
At least mine did when the heater quit. in 2 different trucks.
Espar problem...unique to me?

Did you check the actaul battery connection mine has a blue fuse maybe a foot away . The rare time I have a issue its in that area .. As far as smoke goes I'll disconnect fuel line fill a small bottle with conditioner and run it till bottles empty with heater cranked. Works like charm

You talking about a small bottle of undiluted Power Service? I have used a bottle of kerosene with mixed results. I do believe I will try your method.

With my experience with espar. Every 3-4 years it is going to blow smoke and not want to fire. I always replace the screen and run kerosene thru it. I think @magoo68 has the right idea. Use fuel conditioner turn it on high and clean it out

Yeah, I checked that inline fuse with a tester. It has power to that fuse, so the problem must be in the unit itself.
