    Generally, no. I'm linehaul at DFL and I don't do dock work now, but have done so in the past. There are some rare runs where a driver might have to kick off a few skids at a dark (closed) terminal, but we aren't required to do dock work at breakbulks (hub terminals). Some drivers choose to, so they can make money while their trailer is being loaded, but we aren't forced.

    Also, we don't use the term OTR here because around 95% of us are home every day. Those who do stay out all week are called "system" drivers and they stay in hotels. There are only a handful of those guys at Dayton Freight.

    It’s worth it. If your lucky And get get into the spotter for a couple months it will help you out a lot. You can learn a lot in the yard and most likely will get away with mistakes made in the yard vs the customers yard. The month spent with the trainer will help you a lot then your on your own.

    They take it easy on you while your new. Just do your best. Whatever the starting pay is when u start on the dock add a dollar or 2 by the time you start driving. That’s how good estes is.
