Estes has been great so far, I usually leave Monday afternoon or evening and come back Friday night or Saturday morning. pay checks have been great, people have been pretty easy going. I really love my job so far. I'm pretty much on auto pilot, I don't really talk to anyone just get my paperwork and go. I've had a tire blowout and getting the road side call placed was quick and easy. The hotels are not bad for the most part. I am happy er here than when I was at reddaway.
The_Great_Corn, speedyk and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -

I'm out of Reno, NV. I'm sure you will like it here. I don't do a lot of drop and hooks, usually at the bigger terminals they will have your set ready to go and when you arrive you just leave the set and they take care of it. It really is a kick back job and is mostly just driving. Just do your job and they will leave you alone.

Plus you can make a lot more money on extra board. I ran almost 3,200 miles last week.

Really it is up to you. I like my weekends but I don't think they really care how long you stay out. I know guys that stay out for a month or so. I ran into a driver from Georgia in Sacramento a couple weeks ago. There was another guy that didn't have a home and just bounced around staying in hotels.
You just need to remind them when you need to be back home. I usually run to Denver and then start heading back west. Last week was Reno to Salt Lake back to Reno back to Salt Lake then to Denver back to Salt Lake and then home in Reno. So far this week has been Reno to LA and back. -
Put in a few apps at Saia expecting the same thing, but still no dice from any of them. Estes looks somewhat appealing, but as I'm gunning for something akin to the same days off as I'm getting over at where I am now, packing everything up and moving for an "extra board" position any where seems kind of iffy at this point.
Right now, I'm kind of stuck between a low-paying, yet healthy hours position at the Premier Distributing a bike ride away from my house., A yard-to-plant shuttling position with odd days off, but same hours every day down in Portales., And then there's the two McLane positions I was gunning for that would require a move, plus a license change and being on their extra boards. But the pay for McLane kind of outshines the first two choices.
Pay wise, all I'm really interested in doing is getting my pickup truck paid off quickly, while moving on from dealing with the agricultural environment in general.
