I wasn't sure if you could stay out longer or not. I wouldn't mind doing it just to save up some more money from time to time. Weekends off don't really matter as much to me. I could have Monday Tuesday off for all I care.
I bet that guy with no house(and no car too maybe?) is making a killing. He'll have a ton of money when he decides to buy one.

I know my TM said that I would stay out a week but I don't really answer to him. if you are on extra board you answer to central and I know they get all happy when I tell them to keep me out. The only time that changes is when I'm at home and someone calls in sick then I cover a run or I'd hold down a run if someone was on vacation. Either way I'm happy with my paychecks regardless if I stay out 4 days or 6.
speedyk Thanks this. -
I've heard multiple people say they're out mon-fri but my TM said it could be a Tuesday start or a Wednesday start. I rarely ever see Estes trucks in the road on the weekends thoughTahoeTrucker Thanks this. -
Best day to start as an extra is Sunday.
The slow period is coming soon, you will not run as much as you think you will.
Guys say that Indianapolis is one of the worst places to take a break.
If you come home during the week, you are going to wait for a long time, as they are trying to get all the guys from the motel out first.
I know guys from there are baffled at them hiring new people... They really don't need them.TahoeTrucker Thanks this. -
They have different dispatchers for different areas. Your day out depends on what they say, you could probably ask your tm for a specific day. I was happy to leave Mondays and Sundays would be my next choice.
Slow season is coming so the work will depend on the area you are in. They should be able to keep you pretty busy.
My goal is to get away from my terminal and keep away. I also try to avoid the toilet bowl (California) if you go to Cali you will get stuck there bouncing around. -
My TM said the extra board guys stay busy year round. Even if I'm not covering quite as many miles during the slow season, I'll still be alright.
How are the hours? Are you always running nights, or always running days? Do you usually start about the same time every day and every week?TahoeTrucker Thanks this. -
I usually try and leave in the early afternoon Monday just depends. usually they have my trailers already assigned and I just come in when ever I'm ready. Halloween I left at 11pm after I took my daughter trick or treating.
So, if you leave early on your day out you can usually set up your week to run during the day. This week I've been stuck running at night but this week has kinda been out of the norm and I always turn on my 10. I call the terminal about an hour before my 10 is up and I am usually ready to go asap. Sometimes they have you wait on freight and it throws you off. I ended back at my home terminal on Wednsday middle of the week and had to wait until 10pm to leave so my week has been all nights and all California but I'm still getting good miles. -

Is that the Estes Sleeper Cab Trucks?
I'm always interested in system positions.TahoeTrucker Thanks this. -
Running extra board. Sleeper trucks are for teams. The majority of us all sleep in hotels.
