My folks want me gone and because of my lack of credit which isn't really a big deal, but I can't get a loan for a house on there schedule so, that is forcing me to look for possible alternatives and for right now I won't do anything, because I applied, for a mortgage with a company that says they have a program for people who don't have "established" credit, so that forces me to go to my original plan A or plan A and 1/2. Basically find a job where I am not home, which isn't a problem. Don't want to switch companies though or have to relocate that's the big problem and regional OTR at Estes is a pretty good half way from what it sounds. Either that or switch to chain division at my current company which would be fine, but I would have either a 2.5 hour commute to work 2 times a week which won't work, so I don't know what to do.

I know my TM told me when I got hired that he had a guy that didn't have a home and just stayed in hotels. Took his 34 resets where ever. Estes doesn't seem to care. Actually only staying out a week seems to be kinda new, most of the guys I work with stayed out for at least a month or 2. It is a good gig, if I didn't have a family waiting for me I'd stay out and just take time off in different places.

Today was my first day at Estes. Everything went great, sounds like a great place. I was surprised to only have 1 day of orientation. I start tomorrow night at 2045 training with a driver running from Indy to St. Louis every night the next 2 weeks.

Good on ya Daniel, sounds like an easy run if you can stay awake. Those little hills in eastern Ill will give you a chance to use the steering wheel.

Hey @Daniel55645 - If you ever get sick of staying in hotels, come across the street to Dayton Freight. We have very few "system" drivers. The vast majority of us are home every morning. Nonetheless, congrats on your new job! Linehaul is where it's at (in my opinion).

Do you work out of that terminal across the street? -
Daniel55645 and Mike2633 Thank this.
