No kidding. A forum primarily consisting of drivers and those of us here with any sense know it's a great company to work for relative to most others. A pissed off customer isn't gonna mean crap or dissuade anyone here from wanting to work for them, venting to the wrong crowd...Texas_hwy_287, superflow, buddyd157 and 2 others Thank this.

Is it being handled by dispatch, or is sales handling this? I'm thinking sales is handling the details, and passing it off to dispatch, who then can be blamed.
Plus, how many drivers are ever "done early"? Probably can count them with one hand. I worked LTL years ago, for about the worst 6 months of my life. But it was Central Transport!kimbosa Thanks this. -
Sales people wouldn't be involved in something like this, unless the person in question has an account with the carrier and is dealing with them directly.
Well, friday I had my 13 deliveries and 2 pickups done by 2:00. That allowed plenty of time for pickups in another driver's territory.
At least those were on the way home.
That's to be expected at the likes of Central.
Lonesome Thanks this. -
LOL yet they are In business.

Man. This is the dumbest post I've ever seen. If the customer pays then you pick it up or drop it off. Plain and simple. Estes shouldn't be accepting if they can't deliver their promise.Broke Down 69, Western flyer and Lonesome Thank this.

When I worked P&D for Saia and I missed a pick up because of the early closing time they have. I would make sure it was the first pick up the next day but it rarely happened because dispatch always had someone pick it up if they saw I wasn't going to make it or would talk to the customer and see if they could wait an extra hour.

uh...the customer only CALLED for a pick up....never paid a blessed penny!
i stand by my posting, perhaps you should have checked all the details before responding??
and as far as I AM CONCERNED, he should have Facebook-ed them rather than to complain here to truck drivers!DTP Thanks this. -
The only thing "promised" by any freight line is the transit time. Whether the pickup happens to begin with is another story.

but if you can't do what you say you're gonna do, you shouldn't take the pick up.....pretty simple stuff, really. The problem we ran into at FXF before I left was that people could put a pick up in on line and had no idea if there was a driver available (and being in rural south GA only made it worse). What we did was simply call the customer and get it sorted out.......again, no big deal.
The moral of the story is twofold; if you can't do what you say you can do, don't say it. And if a carrier misses your pick up 9 times in a row, it's unlikely that the 10th time will result in a different outcome.....call someone else.....there's no shortage of LTL companies out there.
