One time I crossed into PA on 81N and that tiny little OS parking lot, (er,, I mean weigh station! Really!) and just as I passed the sign it flashed from closed to open. I actually looked dead at a trooper standing there holding the remote switch for the sign. He looked at me then focused on the truck behind me. Just under the gate I guess.

Funny thing is, if I get a clean level 1 my company pays a $100 bonus. I never get pulled in.

I've only ever seen 1 person get busted for running an open scale. It was I-80 W through PA. They were doing replaving and the exit to the rest area was obscured by cones, but there was a bright orange sign saying weigh station open. I went in, got waved through and down the road maybe 1/4 mile was a guy pulled over by a trooper.

I never have but a co-worker of mine did a few weeks back and they went through his paperwork and truck with a fine tooth comb. Then they hit him with a fine for something and sent him on his way.

I shot by the one in AZ on 17 north just below Flagstaff.

They have mini scales in the rest area and signs about a mile or so before saying CMVs right lane only next X amount...

    They're never open.

I'm blazing up the left lane with a light load past a long line of Dragon Flies and never saw the sign that said they were in there.

    ZOOM

He was looking at me with his hands on his hips when I went by , and I thought
" well.. I'll be meeting this gentleman face to face very shortly".

I wasn't gonna make it easy for him... kept mashing on it. Never saw him.

Got lucky. Those AZ DPS can get nosey if you tick 'em off.

I haven't blown a scale, but I've backed down to let the ramp fill up a time or two.

Back in my flatbed days we had a guy pulling a permit load in Ohio bypass the scale on a green light. They were on him in a heartbeat, and to make matters worse he wasn't on the permit route. ODOT shut him down and pulled ALL permits issues to the carrier. How he kept his job I don't know.

I keep my truck in tiptop shape so I figure driving through us scale house is just a waste of time for me

Banning is usually backed up to the road anyway so no need to stop They'll flip on the sign saying scale closed anyway

I never miss weigh stations, but I pay attention to road signs. The Michigan entry on eastbound 94 will close to chase you down, Ive seen it numerous times, box trucks, big trucks, pickups pulling car trailers.

I passed the Umatilla, Oregon weigh station going westbound on I-82 without even realizing it until I started going over the bridge. I knew about it because I've gone through it going eastbound. Nobody came and chased me down though so maybe they weren't open.
