I don't have to volunteer, I get a level II almost every week and a level I at least monthly, the DOT in New York, especially around the Newburgh area, loves to inspect car carriers for some reason. It is so frequent that i know several of the officers names, their family, etc, from the time they spend picking apart my rig. Most of them are decent and usually I get a pass, but there is one who will not let you out without finding something, can't stand it when I get him, and it seems like he targets car carriers and tow trucks the most.
I would never volunteer for an inspection, too likely to find something wrong, I won't even pull into the rest areas they do inspections at unless I can see for sure there are no officers in the parking lot, I have been inspected as an "volunteer" too many times, you know when the lights are out but they are sitting in there just waiting on a truck to pull through.
Ever done this?

I cant remember where I seen this. But I think it was a TV show. They had a contest to win a truck. You won points by miles, and a few other ways. One way to earn a bunch of points was clean level one inspections. The guy that won the truck asked for a level one at every scale he crossed. He ended up winning the truck. It was a cool show or episode of a show. Can't remember much else. I remember they hauled flat beds with those roll back tarps. One of the guys that lost ended up kicking the camera crew off his truck. I'll try to find the name of it.

But after you work the bugs out of the truck after months to a year most everything seems a little more stable and solid truck.Last edited: May 17, 2015

When I was with Florilli and Henderson the 2 carriers I ran West with the Most I saw Truckee so many times I got to know the DOT guys on a First Name Basis. Hell at Henderson one of them even had Treats for my beagle I carried with me. Get pulled in 25 Mins later the Mutts chewing on her new Chew toy I am going down the road with a pair of new stickers and also going under my breath Glad I redid the Comic Book at Carlin NV to get the hours needed LMAO. For a few weeks we where SHORT Drivers and well lets just say about a dozen of us had to play old school drivers with the HOS. We had drivers doing CA turns as fast and they could get there aka 10/8 all the way out and Back preloaded trailers both ends. Checks where Great Sleep was hard to get at times.
