I did yard work for 2 months. 12 hour days, 5 days a week. It was a great learning experience. What these other guys have said about learning to back is true. When I stepped up to OTR all I had to do was get used to the longer wheelbase of the tractor and I was set. I have had several customers comment on how well I back and I owe it to those 2 months in the yard.

another update, things are going well I am getting quicker at finding the right trailer, hooking up,tug test, hook up emergency air, take off towards doors, stop, open doors, back in,unhook air pull out chocks and jackstands, clear the computer see what door needs to be taken out to the lot and do it over again.
some things that I might pass on to over the roaders that come in. I deal with enough trailers all day that they kind of look the same,if I know where your trailer is(not likely right now but I am getting better!) I will tell you,if you need help with your axels or something like that I will help if I can. I am not being rude when I go around you I am being told to hurry up! -
Trey, I am sure you have figured out by now pieces of wire can be handy for bent or damaged door retainer locks.
Also, in the winter you may want to use emerg. and supply lines for trailer moves. That short wheel base will do donuts with or without a trl.

yup got peices of wire on the truck! as for the emergency supply line I dont get your meaning? we only have the one airline coming off the truck?

i run dedicated with werner for anheuser busch, all of the spotters ive ever talked to are good guys...
-
cool you run out of ft collins? I did learn today that werner trailers are different, their axels dont go all the way back, thus changing the pivot point.
-
yeah i go there when i unload in loveland, ft collins, never had a good time there though, usually busy as hell haha. i got out of there at the last moment a couple of weeks ago on a friday morning, think they were calling for 10-20 inches up and down the I-25 corridor...
Werner trailers can be weird, the newer ones, they go all the way back, but on the older trailers, like the 9xxxx, the 6xxxx, and the 42xxx dont go all the way back...the newer trailers start with 43xxx, up to 45xxx...ft collins is always busy when i go up there, last time i was there, trl was 11 hrs late being loaded lol
