Finally got hired at a company, but I am wishing that it was not so. Went fresh out of truck driving school to working for an owner operator down in Montgomerey AL, that did not go so well. spent 5 weeks in a truck, drove over 3,000 miles a week, and did not get paid for it. I have since then been working for Gunthers Transport out of Hanover. Great miles, own truck, and my night dispatcher is the man, the rest of the " I know everything" dispatchers. Make my job extremely hard. I just want to go to work, and be home once a month to see my family. I have been at the house for the last 4 days, two days longer than expected, but I am still losing money all the same. If there is any body out there that will take a rookie with a brain, let me know. I have almost 3 months verifiable, no accidents, no tickets. Just need to find a company that will treat me with a little respect, and get me home once a month for a reset. Not asking too much, hell if you think it is difficult just sign the paperwork, and I will broker my own loads. Just need a shot that is all. Not asking for a hand out, I have copies of my logs, and have an average of 3100 miles a week, for 11 weeks. I can drive, and have for a long time, just a good old country farm boy trying to take care of his family. send an email to LiLee420@aol.com, if you can help.

    Thanks
    Lee

Not out of the wood yet folks. I was told Friday the 17th that I would be shipping out for orientation this past Monday the 20th, only to find out there is a hold up due to my Felony and it has to go before a safety review in order to be accepted. LOL!!!!!!! I have been here before. I am praying that someone or all on the board have a heart and give me an undeserved chance. All I want to do is work and be productive.

That pretty much draws the line down to felony tresspass or perjury then..

I think not, I have two felony thefts and I was able to get hired. I was also told by several major companies that they would hire me after I was working for another trucking company for at least 6 months which would ofset the crim history from 16 years ago.

I have not driven long, only about 300 hours but I make 30 cents a mile and average 3k miles a week.. Sure I work my log books but hey I just want to get into a bigger company with a qualcom to keep me honest.

something to keep in mind, and I've posted this already, if a company turns you down solely because of your felony, advise the company that they are in violation of a recent EEOC ruling.

The EEOC has ruled that you cannot simply discriminate on hiring someone because they have a felony conviction unless they can show specific cause where the felony would be a problem.

Also, I know that CR England will hire with a felony as I had an interview and start date with them but I changed my mind about 18 mos. ago, they do require it to be at least 7 yrs old.

Can you tell me how to follow up on this ruling and should I contact the eeoc everytime they tell me they can not hire me because of a felony conviction?

ask them for the specifics of the reason why, unless you are going to Canada, working armored transport, or dealing military clearance they may have a problem. If they can't give you one of these as an excuse, advise them that they may be in violation of the EEOC, that the EEOC recently ruled that companies cannot discriminate against someone solely based on a felony without justifiable reason.
