If there's nothing wrong with convicted felons, why do you think companies don't want to hire them? Maybe you need to start a company and advertise for all the convicted felons to work for you? Let us know how that works out. By the way, if you think my post is wrong, or in the wrong place, delete it. I'm a firm believer in law and order and in this place, I recognize that YOU are the law. You won't see me complaining about you enforcing any 'law' you choose to enforce.
My job as a moderator is to help direct this community in a positive way, I am not the Law The goal of the board "Making sense of the trucking industry" You making a post in a ongoing thread the way you did is like poking a stick into a open wound There was no need to do that I can tell you are the kind of guy that likes to get the last word in and thats fine, so I will make one last comment Be a positive force on the board, our drivers need your help
Well to clarify the situation to the FED, that came in the room. We need not talk, about what a man is or is not. We all know FEDS are the dirtiest of them all. Since the fell they are above the law. I have actually taken two badges in 2006 for harrassment. So back off. ALL and I mean ALL people break the law. Just some get caught, and others do not. How many times have we all been on the interstate, and running 75 and some cop comes flying up on your tail, and you get out of the way and he guns it. Good example. Who enforces the enforcerers? Anyways, went good on the interviews, and looks good on my end. Talked to a recruiter at (S)ure (W)ish(I)had a (F)aster (T)ruck, and it looks like it is going to be alright. To everyone else out there trying to find a job, keep your faith, trust God, and good luck.
I agree 100 percent. There are those who believe that they have lived a perfect life and thus feel ordained to elevate their paltry self esteem by judging others. The angel of self deceit is camped in the souls of the self righteous. The power of strength through acceptance of what is and what is not shall spring forth eternal.
Apples and Oranges comparison, Dan. If one has served their time and paid their debt to society doesn't that make him and EX Felon if he stays clean?
I agree however some crimes are unforgiveable to 99.9% those crimes being rape, sex crimes and in some cases cold blooded murder. Thats a very small percentage of people that the tax payers can happily take care of for the rest of their lives compared to the millions of people that have convictions ranging from theft to druge use etc that have stoped their ways for a longer peirod of time and just want honest work.
Thats great news mate! I recieved a phone call yesterday from Martin and another company in Ar wanting my services, It would seem that ten years and a hazmat endorsement speaks volumes for who someone is. Having a credit score of 812 says a little bit also
there is no law that says a x felon can't work if he has paid his debt the best thing you can do for him and yourself is stay out of his business he has the right to make a living just like anyone else as far as a company goes , each company has the right to set there own policy's and they do more then a few are on the stupid side but most that have a policy about felons are those that haul military goods of course there are always exceptions but most company's out there will hire you if your a x felon just keep a positive attitude and keep trying you will get a job the biggest problem your having now is because of the economy a lot of drivers are having trouble finding work right now but we all hope it Will pass soon. if you get around Atlanta you might check there , plenty of work i get at least 5 e-mails every day and I'm not looking got my own trucks sure don't need a job. as for the super cop thats wants to talk down about a x felon well you just have to consider the source after all he is a cop he doesn't know any better and i can assure you that more look down on him then you. just keep your head up and a positive attitude and you will find a job, as a matter of fact let me no what part of the country your in and ill see if i can give you a hand i get e-mails every day from company's looking for drivers. good luck my friend and remember this any man that looks down on another isn't much of a man just walk on buy. my best to you. southernpride
I have a question. My husband and I want to team drive. I have a clean record and have been with my current job as a city bus driver for 9 years. My husband has an 11 yr old felony and a 3 yr old misdemeanor. He has been with the same company for 10 yrs. I am willing to work for a less then stellar company that will hire him until we gain the experience to go somewhere better. We both need to go to school, but would rather pay for it ourselves then go with a company that has a slave labor education program. Any suggestions?
Yeah Countrycuz, I am originally from a small town in South Carolina called Bluffton. It is right outside of Hilton Head Island. I do not have a felony on my record. I have a defferred, and it is over 8 years old. I know my background is clear, because I have my passport. I used to be in the Iron Workers Union, and unions do not just take anybody, the do take felons, but the felony has to be old enough for you to get a FAST or TWIC card. If you can't work on the Ports or military installations then you cannot work for the union. Ports and power plants are the main places we work. I mean we do skyscrappers, but the ports and power plants are the bread and butter. I have a Class A cdl, passport, and I have passed the tests at the DMV for the Doubles/Triples and Haz Mat. I am just waiting on the background check to get back. I sent off for it on 06/29/10. I have other problems besides the Criminal. My driving record was not all that great when I was growing up. I had a Camaro and a lead foot. I lost my License in 2006 for 6 months. I had 3 speeding, and one improper passing between 2005 and 2006 Dec- Feb. I sold the car in March of that year. I got my License back in October of 06. When the state of SC went national with there database. They screwed my driving history up. I have proof that I got my License back in October of 06, but they are trying to say I did not get it back until May of 08. The proof is I got pulled over in Savannah Ga, in September of 07 for a busted tail light. The cop ran my license and it came back suspended for failure to pay. Big misunderstanding, and I came to court in GA, should the Judge I had paid all the fines, and he dismissed the case. The state of SC, never cleared my history up. I had to go from each state, Ga to SC then to NC. Turn in all the paperwork, and get everything cleared up. I have already recieved two amendments to my history, and the others are on the way. I just have to be patient. Working with a lawyer, and we all know they work at a snails pace. My driving record looks like this for the last 5 years. Speeding 05 Speeding 06 Speeding 06 Improper passing 06 Suspension for points in 06, May to Oct all I have on my record for the last 3 years as far as points is a little BS, speeding ticket in Rock Hill SC. the worlds biggest speed trap. it was 120.00 and 2 points I am doing all that I can do to get a job, I have even tried going to local owner/operators. No one will give me a break, I know people forget where they come from, and you cannot blame them. Why would they take me compared to some candy ##### coming behind me with a better driving record. My question is, if I have only had one ticket in the last 3 years, what is the problem. I am not a high risk driver, I have insurance and it is not that expensive. You are only rated on your last 3 years, because that is what the limit is that the courts can put against your license for each state. I know there are drivers out there with a way worse record than mine, turning and burning. I just need a shot. If you can help country I would greatly appreciate it. Email is LiLee420@aol.com just send me a message, and I will take any help I can get. The misses is to say less than pleased at me right now, unlike alot of people that went to that driving school, I paid for mine. Obama didn't have a thing to do with me going. I am just a good old country boy that is living in Charlotte NC, that just needs a job. Appreciate the help. Lee
