ATS might be a good fit for you or maybe pulling super size loads.I would stay away from megas that advertise alot.most have a policy that would require you to take a refresher course and judging by your thread you dont need that.

Because of insurance reasons you will probably need to take a refresher if you don't have recent experience in the past 6 months.

You chose bad time to start in 2008 and you choosing bad time again now. I suggest be a company driver for now and start your business in the beginning of 2017

That is a concern.. i am looking into the miles given with the majors that i am checking into. Trying to talk to the drivers. it is not as easy to talk to them as I thought it would be... but i have spoken to a few so far.. not enough.

There is a consensus that with the avg. Diesel Price (Texas) around $1.80/Gal. There is definitely money to be made. I will keep Both eyes open this go 'round for sure.

The OP needs to say what type of "trucking" interests him and what he is "designed for". Lots of options can be ruled out with this clarification.

My history is Tankers, Cement Pumps, Drybulk Cement, and Flatbed (pipe/Casing/General Oilfield Equipment.)
I would like to get in to Drop&Hook Hauling, I would prefer not to have to own trailers initially.
But I realize starting out I may have to compromise what I do for Miles/income.

Well, if I'm hearing you right, you have since sold your truck and want to be a company driver? Home time is not important? or you need dependable and frequent home time?

Drop and hook hauling? No, I don;' think you want that. That will put you with mostly mega carriers. However, JS helwig, Terrell does a lot of D/H out of the meat plants and other facilities on the eastern seaboard and will run you all the miles you can legally run if your Ok with eastern/central US only.

And don't get hung up on eLogs. I fought them too, but quickly found they are not an issue if you are with a truly long-haul carrier. Regional, they could be a real problem otherwise they are more of a driver benefit, then a driver liability.

I lost my truck and business in 2008
Been out of it since then.
Still have the bug after 8 years away.
I am looking at possibly buying another Truck and starting up again.
I have not driven since early 09.
Just looking at what options there may or may not be for my scenario.
