Because they are an organization they cannot call for or support any strike. They would be tried for collusion.
Most O/Os base their BEP on faulty numbers. Why? Many say "My trk/trl are paid for so I can haul cheaper". WRONG!!!!!! What ever your trk/trl payments were, or should be, need to be factored into your BEP. This money should be used to save towards replacement equpment. Your maintainance account won't, or shouldn't be used to, cover this cost. And, may I suggest that one should factor this expense based on the cost of NEW, NOT used, equipment.
Many even don't factor in a weekly salary. They just think that whatever they have left over at the end of the week/month is their income, and then wonder why they'er having cash flow problems at home.
If all O/Os would include these two often overlooked items when figuring BEP, I think you would find evreyone quoting close to the same rate to brokers/shippers. Then it becomes a matter of who can provide the best service LEGALLY. -
That's easy. Driver B being from MD ought to know $2/mi freight is a fantasy out there unless he likes Maine and will relocate his truck south or west and let the other guy wear out his rig picking up that $1.50 load. When that happens, some dude from Detroit will come get the $1.50 load next time thinking he's hit the lotto.

They are a lobbing organization and years ago just mentioned in passing that O/Os should support one of the many strike for a day ideas and got slapped down pretty fast.

Yeah, if everyone got together, then the powers that be would slap a RICO suit on everyone. Heck they did that with the right to life crowd, you can bet they would do it to truckers.
