Exceptions to the 1 year OTR experience

SloMo_Joe, I am also considering the ATDS school in Elm Mott, TX and am interested in the Crete Mid-South Regional and have a few questions.

1. Are you regional or national?

2. Can I go into the Mid-South regional right out of school? Though I might want to take my training with a national driver to gain the experience.

3. How is the freight and miles for you with the economy the way it is?

4. I live in the Waco area. Would I be able to take the truck home?

 

I'm also very interested to hear from SloMoJoe. Are you still getting miles? Are you regional or LH? Is 8 weeks in stone or can you finish training early if your trainer gives you the thumbs up? I'm looking for a good flatbed company to get started and TMC has a long training period as well only they pay $200/wk less than Crete. Right now the DMV is dragging it's feet getting our class road tested. We were scheduled to do it last Monday but they were late, showed up as one inspector and not two and the following day we hit with a nasty winter storm and they refused to do any road testing. With the holidays that was enough to put us out of testing for the week and now we are in limbo until a new test day can be scheduled which looks like a week or so from now. Can't afford to make TMC training pay for two months now that I've been forced to use up 3 weeks worth of financial cushion I had been saving up for this career transition.
