If a guy can't get a truck on his own he is not ready to own a truck. No good carrier offers a lease purchase. All good carriers pay much more than lease purchase carriers. Gross means nothing, net means everything.

Another note. 68 percent of what? Vs 70 percent of what? 70 percent of garbage rates is not better than 68 percent of good freight rates.
I know a couple guys at Landstar pulling top dollar freight that make your gross and my gross combined look like chump change. People get so caught up in the specific percentage number that they lose sight of the real issue. That's the net. The only number that ever matters is net.LilRedRidingHood, marnium and brian991219 Thank this. -
I'm going with four months being excessive.
I will also add that frankly, in my opinion, it is ridiculous for an old peddle hand who's pulled 48 footers around locally who decided he wants to run OTR should be subject to any of this. The only "training" that driver should need pertains strictly to company regulations. Otherwise, to ask him to pony up a king's ransom for what most OTR companies aftectionate refer to as "schooling" is little more than a racket which simply greases the wheels of the CDL mills.Switcher Thanks this. -
I think Wil-Trans bought Jim Palmer Trucking. I was reading the Missoula, Montana newspaper website. They had a story indicating Wil-Trans bought JPT which had filed for bankruptcy. I believe the sale was completed in 2014. I'm doing research on them. So far they seem good to me. I'm trying to contact current and former drivers to get detailed and specific info.marnium Thanks this.

In contact daily almost with two drivers. Good place to be!

It took me just under 8 weeks to get my 40,000 miles in with my trainer. We did several CA to NJ runs which helped knock out the miles. JPT's training pay is definitely better than most - $600 to $ 700 per week depending on where you are in their program.LilRedRidingHood Thanks this.
