You'd hate loading produce. Sometimes hours and hours of waiting (for your load to cool). Sitting close to your C.B. radio for them to call you. Nothing to eat, porta potty in the gravel lot. Ya' gotta love it, Son ! What really gets your goat, other truck co's pulling in and getting fast service. Legally, when you're at the ready, you're on line 4. But you will get away with line 2. There's been some changes i might not have heard of also.

I would not log Off Duty. Because you are required to be attending a commercial vehicle being loaded or unloaded. Your not free to leave the shipper or receiver and do do anything you want. You could log sleeper if want.

You can get the trucking company back at the end of the week when you run out of hours and their truck can't move and make money for them. You do limit you pay also.

Find out what the process is at Schneider is for detention pay ... Trust me there is one and Schneider will expect you to follow it to the letter to get paid.

I used to make $3000 year at Swift just off of detention.

Was told to never use off duty at a customer. Company might have a minimum of on duty time that is supposed to represent the time it takes to check in/out, move around yard, open/close doors, back in/out. The rest is spent in sleeper berth since we hire lumpers.

I get paid by the mile, so I do my best to conserve my on duty time for driving. I like to show a little variance in the time it takes to do those on duty tasks.

I do occasionally feel tempted to log on duty to reply to Qualcomm messages that interrupt my off duty time.

You better pray you never get a grocery load. Then you'll know the meaning of time wasted.

Waited over 4 hours for one this morning. It'll be interesting to see how long the unload takes on Monday!

Yes it is called detention time. U better believe schnieder is not letting that truck sit for free. Now will they pay u some of that money is the million dollar question ? Log sleeper berth , dont stay on duty for that loading crap , u will never make any money out here doing that. U will burn half ur 70 every week just sitting in a dock
