The answer is........GET USED TO IT! It happens to everyone, you are not being singled out. Let your dispatch know what's happening, and plan your day accordingly.Just passing by Thanks this.

Where I work at, they have had trucks sit on the dock for quite a while sometimes.
This happens when they have to pick the load.
They pay detention to the carriers.
But, as was pointed out to me, detention pay starts two hours after appointment time.NEWsDriver Thanks this. -
If this happened to me and I was an OO I definitely would’ve given this clown the bird and told him to go find another patsy; I agree with @ZVar, summed up what I was thinking quite nicely from a company driver pov, also I’d add if the company is worth a dang they should take a second look at doing business with that company in the first place, I’d consider that the equivalent of being spat in the faceMidwestResident and NEWsDriver Thank this.

The really cool thing about being a trucker is that no matter where you go no matter what you do no matter how hard you work how much you plan or how much you suffer at the end of the day nobody gives a fiddler's #### (rhymes with duck) about you.
Not shippers, not receivers, owners, dispatch, 4 wheelers, cops. Nobody. The fact is everyone and everything is working against yet everything is your fault.
That's just the way it ishomeskillet, MidwestResident, nredfor88 and 3 others Thank this. -
I always log it off duty. Then whenever I am finally loaded, or unloaded, I can keep going.
If you are there long enough to get a reset then you can just run your next load over night.NEWsDriver, Rubber duck kw and Just passing by Thank this. -
Working on that!
-
Yeah, I'm finding that out pretty fast. I don't have the patience for this job, Im irritated easily by stupid things and stupid people and am working on getting a local job as being irritable while driving OTR, isn't the safest thing.
