68 is still where the overspeed clock starts according to the terse messages recently sent in bulk format by my DBL to her group saying either slow it down or you're getting pulled off the road for retraining secondary to demonstrating an inability to control your rig. I just set my cruise on 60-62 and let her rumble.

I see it a little differently. It's not my truck. It was bought by SNI and assigned to me. They have a set of rules in place and it's my responsibility to either abide by them or look elsewhere for employment. I have a great deal of latitude in how I operate the truck and manage my load and day but I'm comfortable with the realization that the company speed limit exists for a reason. But again, that's just me.

For them to make money. Not you to make money.

Enlightened self-interest. If my company makes money, I have a chance to see some of it. If it's lossing money, rank and file are the first ones to feel the pinch.

Whatever. I grossed $1487 last week and didn't have to bend any rules or get called in for a safety debriefing either. But I do agree that it's about them making money, limiting speed thereby reducing insurance expenditures and the potential of drivers destroying lives and equipment costing them millions.

If the company owns the equipment..then you'll operate it like they tell you to..you want to operate a truck your way..go buy your own..it's that simple

Can I have the best of both worlds? Lease a truck and be on forced dispatch that way I get freedom AND micro management . :)

I respect this. I can honestly say that I did not have that outlook when I was at Schneider. Always wanted to go faster and thought that all they tried to do was babysit me with all those rules and percentages. Now I'm with a company that has no such limits, yet I'm one of the slower drivers with one of the fastest trucks. Go figure.
