Apparently didn't read my previous post I said that's exactly what I was wanting to do. Reading is fundamental.
And why should I pay somebody more unless they prove that they are worth more?
People walk around with an attitude that they are owed something. The only thing you are owed is an opportunity, nothing else. And honestly, you are not even owed that much.
The attitude of I want, I want, I want, is exactly why the industry is in the shape it is in. People seem to feel entitled to something without being required to put forth any effort at all. That goes right back to my initial statement of a loudmouth steering wheel holder.
Expansion time.

ask yourself is the job you are tendering a job to lose? or is it just another paycheck job that needs just the right person, most jobs are in the latter category. now when trying to fill this low wage startup gotta prove yourself first position you might want to check insurance rates on drivers with little or no experience
-
You get what you pay for.Im not working for less than $1000 per week, living in a rolling jail cell, under scrutiny 24-7.
I doubt you'll keep any drivers at $850 a week. -
I know someone who pays $300/day...2 drivers, 2 trucks. He sits at home and collect $7K net per month

850 is a starting wage, you need to add 150 to that number and let them prove themselves than go up from there.

Let me guess? $850 on a 1099 is what you are planning? Let's just say you will get exactly what you pay for... Remember there is a reason Swift and all have to have 10,000 - 20,000 trucks. Making a 0.001 cpm profit from having to deal with rookies and everything they do means to get anywhere one needs scale.
Speaking of, if you are paying less then Swift, expect drivers that cannot keep a job at Swift.
One other thing about hiring rookies, you might want to check how much in affects your insurance rates. It might actually be cheaper to pay more salary, get a better driver, and pay less in insurance.Steel Dragon Thanks this. -
I found my guy on Craigslist. Got lucky and He suprised me how good he runs my truck. I wasn’t sure if he’s going to last a month because I judged him too soon. But he proved me wrong. But he has an easy gig, light freight and home every day and I keep my truck well maintained. Word of advice ,do whatever it takes to make him happy even small things make a difference. You salary is on a low side, if you find an experienced driver you have to give him 1k a week at least.
Derailed, Steel Dragon and Logan76 Thank this. -
It's called knowing your worth.
I can read just fine, I hope your arrogant attitude gets you just what you deserve.
I know I would rather pay a fair wage and hire quality experienced drivers but hey it's your reputation.kwswan and Steel Dragon Thank this. -
Who do you know for a long time that you can groom into a good situation for both?Steel Dragon Thanks this.

That’s the key to running truck successfully. If you have quality individual just pay him/her good wage. I send some bonus money to my guy if truck does better than average for that month or a quater. He keeps truck clean and only time I hear from him is if truck have issues.Steel Dragon and Logan76 Thank this.
