Expected pay????

    Someone mentioned rolloff. I can say that union trash company's pay 20 an hour to start driving a rolloff. Good benifits, and OT after 40, or 8 in a day, depending on the company's contract. Good job. I almost went with WM in Tampa, that is what they were hireing at when I talked to them a year and a half ago. This is straight truck, only really need a class B, home every night, off weekends and holidays.
    Hmm... maybe I should have kept on them about that job lol.

    Thanks all for your advice. My buddies dad was a local union freight driver his entire life but unfortunately has passed on so I never had a chance to ask his advice.

    If you live in the right place, and can put with the political BS of a union shop, those jobs are hard to beat. Yes, you have to plan for the layoffs when it's slow for a couple years, but you have to look long term. And I'm not exactly a pro-union guy.

    Yeah my only experience with a union wasn't that great In the end but it was a true livable hourly wage job while it lasted. It was with the machinist Union and I got laid off because of a company overhire to fill a big contract. I out produced the guy they kept buy as much as 40% but he had 7 years on me so thems the breaks I guess.
