Its not difficult.
FFE valued me and wife to be a reefer team. However there was a number of department heads that needed to approve across the company for me to be paid as a trainer, given the materials and tasked to train spouse.
We were a full team in about two weeks by 6 I had nothing left to work out as far as her weaknesses and failings and by 9 we pretty much finished it with several weeks before her test.
The pay she got was about a little over 300 a week after withholding in 2001 so.. it was not much. My salary was based on 2000 a week. So the miles didnt matter, even though we knew that coast to coast turns of almost 7000 miles would be twice salary income. So they saved some money there. We probably left about 18000 on the table based on salary only together. She was paid about .30 and i was paid around .40 so 70 cents a mile. That would have been 4000 dollar weeks gross give or take napkin figures And there were a couple of times.
Training is something I wont need to do again. Im over it. If anyone has ever been married, a wife would be the most difficult of all students some days. And the most important. We actually had conflicts a few times in that cab when she was having a difficult day for one reason or another. Usually settled by two rules. One who is driving is boss. The other bunk curtains provide peace until one is ready to come out and be social. The law has helped a couple of times which was REALLY good of them. Usually scale masters etc.
Other training usually took on so and so, let him or her take a drive out and back, say 40 minutes or so and see how they do. Hire or not? Most of the time they did well. Even though a few were pretty green. (New) ONCE in a while you get a showboat who is a little reckless and those are the ones who do not get a job. Its that easy to not get hired for being stupid or trying to show off. I remember one in particular. He did not have much mastery of english. So it took a lot of patomine and pointing to get him back to the barn or we would have ended up on dry fuel tanks 2000 miles away. UGH...
Glad they didnt take him.LtlAnonymous, BackwoodsGA and FerrissWheel Thank this. -

Requirements should be able to go up us 19/23 thru Ozark and us 259 from TX OK line and Down us 13 in Aliquippa.Theyre then qualified.
FerrissWheel Thanks this. -
Supply and demand I reckon. There seems to be more new drivers than experienced drivers. And many experienced drivers don’t want to do it.
That’s whyFoolsErrand and FerrissWheel Thank this.
