not sure where that is? is it YRC?

YRC we still have our same wages but in our checks they take out a 15%. we are getting that back once the contract is renewed, especially after the attempt to buyout ABF. Like I said, I wouldnt care if they were using to fix the equipment, or buy new trucks, but not another company which put them in this spot in the first place

ABF I have no idea, they did want to cut the wages by 7% for hourly, and line-haul. Not sure if its been settled or not yet. I can find out easily though

I think this time I'm just gonna get a whole smoked brisket. It's $45.00, WTH. I'll work on it today & tomorrow.

LOL my daughters want out of here too! They can live with me as long as they want. Well not that long.

UPSF wasn't union in the beginning. UPSF is the old Overnight Freight and Motor Cargo. Maybe some others too, not sure. In the beginning they still ran teams. Now they have owner operators and use outside carriers for their otr freight. Maybe before the union was voted in UPS fought to keep using outside carriers and won? I remember when I went to Fontana for a job they were complaining about outside carriers, guess nothing ever happened with it. That was in 2006 I believe. They use a lot of outside carriers though, just like FedEx and Conway. Conway was CRST biggest customer! I ran UPS dedicated for CRST for 6 months once. What a crap company that was. Are all of the UPSF yards even union?

Tennessee is a lot cheaper. I'll probably be on the outskirts of Nashville so that will be an option to go to YRC. Maybe Southeastern too.

I feel you man. In my area were busy but another terminal over hired so they take our freight. So I've got cut out of runs which is irritating me. Also they are pretty unorganized here too. Buddy of mine works for a company which is local , home daily. Can work 5-7 days on a day shift making anywhere from 1100-1800 a week. Said he can get me on in a heartbeat. Their picking up contracts so they are gonna be busy. Alot of LTL's sub contract. Hill bros in my area do alot of FedEx freight and I can get some windshield time, home time, and own a truck if I choose. Don't have to be married to the road like most o/o. Plus their trucks do 70.

Conway freight they sub like crazy in my area. Nightly there is a crap load of CRST, Werner, and other guys going in their yard. Which surprises me since they have their own TL.

Our trucks go anywhere from 64 to 66. I keep it mashed! I don't know how far you get into Cali but over by the Grapevine and in Kern county, I try to back it down a little. High dollar fines over there.

I don't know what their deal is lately but they seem to just throw you out there and forget about you. Well for me anyway. I call and call and it takes like 2 hours to get a hold of dispatch. Pisses me off! Sometimes they say, we don't know who you are call your yard. So I do and they tell me to call another yard. Sometimes i call 3 different yards before they can tell me what trailers to bring home! Usually I end up calling the yard I first called and they say, duh sorry we messed up. Sorry to hear you're losing work up there.

That sounds like a good deal where your buddy works. Might be worth looking into before you get laid off for the winter lol. I would love to own my own truck again. I miss those days but I don't miss bed bugging. If they can give you enough miles and get you home every week, that's a win win!

We pretty much sub out all the inter-regional freight over 600 miles. Most of our hazmat runs on pups since the majority of OTR drivers dont have a hazmat endorsement(thank heavens!) and cant run any placardable loads. And you are right, most con-way yards from the 20 doors to the 100+ door yards look like drop yards for crst, covenant, werner and most other carriers you can think of.
And its ironic that con-way truckload does alot of sub hauling for UPS freight..The freight business is a sick twisted relationship I'm coming to realize.
