How do you find the addresses without screwing up and getting in a pinch???

I first would use my Nav unit or my mapping software. IF not I would call the place. I used to be given some places where there were no phone number and the agent either refused to help or gave me a fake number. IF I can't find it that way, I would use google look for the number and/or the place by the company name. Sometimes I would use google earth to see what the layout was and how to get in and out quickly.

How do you deal with all the loneliness one gets out there??

The phone and webcam. I didn't have the problem like others do, my brats knew I had to go on the road and my wife was the one who pushed me to get out and make money. The only ones who cared were my dogs and they came with me when I went out for a couple weeks.

    How do not get lost???

I would write everything down, map out my route and go over it a couple times. I have used a form of shorthand for my notes and would stick right in front of me.

How do you not get all emotional when the times arise??

I learned how not to get emotional, like when the guy in the Pumpkin took out my reefer unit and front part of the box on my truck. I didn't get mad or yell but after I was pissed. It takes a lot of work not to get emotional and if you suffer from that, like a freind does with the same problem as you, think about getting back into the cab - he has a really difficult time with driving and with people when there are issues of waiting - like when Pilot in I think Gary IN had a big problem with Commdata a few years back, he freaked out and they had to call the cops on him because they didn't know what was wrong.

How do you become self sufficent and learn to rely on yourself??

This is something you have to have someone actually talk to you about, it is really hard to do some emotional and mental exorcises to keep you on track when talking about it on the Internet. I know there are a lot of places you can contact for help, I don't know specific place I could recommend for other reasons but they are there.

    Hope that helps, good luck.

How do you find the addresses without screwing up and getting in a pinch???

Plug address into GPS. Compare GPS directions to local directions. Call shipper/receiver if not clear on directions. Road atlas is good to get you in the area, but its not gonna help with local directions. If at any point I feel like I am hopelessly lost. I find somewhere safe and STOP and get my bearings.

How do you deal with all the loneliness one gets out there??

I bug the hell out of my girlfriend, kids, parents, whoever wants to chat, I browse the internet and watch netflix. Sometimes none of it helps...you just have days where you just feel alone. But honestly it passes quickly.

    How do not get lost???

I do a good trip plan and pay attention to signs

How do you not get all emotional when the times arise??

I am reading that as meaning getting angry when things don't go your way. I guess I just realize there are gonna be days like that and tomorrow is a new day.

How do you become self sufficent and learn to rely on yourself??

Years and years of maturity...I'll let you know when I get there..haha

I'm not fond of them myself. Let me help out. It takes time. I have a kid who's autistic, so aspergers is a form of it. I know what you're dealing with. And you can have asbergers and be out here. No bubbles no troubles. 1. Finding a place? Good luck!! Luckily, with the invention of the iPhone and GPS, and knowing how to navigate a map, you'll have no trouble. Back in the day, you had to depend on others' directions. And people, especially ones who don't drive truck, have no idea where the hell they are going.

    2. Loneliness? At first it sucks. But you find friends out here. I have a few I talk to all the time. Cell phones and email and texts really help that loneliness issue. You're never alone when a friend is a phone call away.

    Getting lost? See number one.

Getting emotional. We all do. It's a fact of life. I know asbergers makes that a bit difficult to control sometimes. But get a program going. When you feel it coming, stop and take a few breaths. Play out a better scenario in your mind. Make yourself feel better. Me, I think of the girls I've been with. Always makes me happy and I amuse myself that I actually tricked women into sleeping with me!

Being self sufficient comes with time. One of the greatest things about being on the road is getting to learn about yourself. You never truly find you until you're alone, and able to explore you. Sounds weird, but its true. You teach you to rely on yourself as you learn your strengths and weakness and building on them. Don't be afraid to get out there. Don't be afraid to do anything. There's a whole world out here to discover. And a lot of people to guide you on your way to finding you and help you to rely on yourself. Good luck my friend!

I won't answer all of the questions, but as for finding where I'm going I can say that I've NEVER used a GPS. Not that GPS is a bad thing, I'm just an old soul type, I pull out the old atlas out and get myself close to where I need to be, and always have a good contact number to get my directions for the last 10-20 miles. I'm the type that likes to hear directions verbally and jot them down on a piece of paper the way I understand them, this has worked for me for 10 years now, I have been turned around a time or two but I've never actually been what I consider "lost".

That's my Muffin. I call him that. He's 6 and severely autistic. But he's doing it, one day at a time. If he can, anyone can. If you want it bad enough, it will happen. I look at him everyday to remind me that if he can do it, so can I.
