I think the really experienced folks around here are self taught. Self motivated too.

Flatbed is really not that hard. Most securement is common sense and following regs. A day or two of training on the basics of securement and you should be fine. The more difficult stuff is more of a learn as you go deal. I suppose for some it might be harder....for me wasn't that hard to learn. Maybe cause I came from a construction back ground.

It has gone down hill considerably a couple of years ago they stripped driver pay from .42 to .38 now the have a mileage bonus program that out of 130 truck only 38 drivers were eligible for any bonus the minimum for a bonus is 2250 mile average for 2 weeks their freight has dropped off, lay over pay is only after 48 hours. The just cut the 401k completely out. They have route you and tell you where to fuel 50 gallons here 50 there. 10.50 a drop and 25 to tarp many loads require 3 tarps due to light weight baby tarps. The shop can take 5+ plus hours to do a simple oil change and service.

Their heavy haul fleet which is about 20 trucks where I am one is alot better the base pay .46 I usually average over .50 I have never had a lay over my entire week is usually laid out for me everything else you say sounds accurate. I think they are still good in industry standards but the trucking industry is complete #### I personally drive truck for a year then go back to equipment operator for a couple I keeping hoping trucking will improve but I have been jumping back and forth 6 years and it never does its to bad good drivers should be paid a good living.
