All conventionals were referred to as long noses back then
Appreciate that. -
What you will find around TRR is about 90% new gen cdl holders posing as 20 year career hands. Google affords them "correctness" so they get away with alot of BS quoting history.
Welcome to the sanitized world of trucking

Since I don't have any recent experience I will have to take a "refresher" CDL course (I still have a valid CDL with all endorsements except Hazmat). After that, I plan to go to work for Schneider. I will have to take a week of orientatioin and then go out with one of their trainer drivers (I guess they need some free training lol) and then once I get through all that I'll be back wherre I never expected to find myself.... at the wheel of a truck again. I imagine I will work towards owning a truck again unless it looks like a bad choice once I am back in the mix.

I had a 1973, and a 1977 359 like that, brings back a lot of memories, like crawling thru the Hell hole to get in the sleeper. I still miss the little doors on the hood to check the oil and water. Yes we all called them long nose back then and the guys east of the Mississippi would die in envy just to see one, alot of the younger folks on here don't remember the 55' length law or the 73,280 weight limit east of the river (generally). Good luck coming back, but as Krooser said it's a new ballgame.
