I will admit I am not sold on the idea but have not used e-logs. I never "cheated" to make more money but out of sheer common sense and convenience. I always put Safety 1st but going over to get to a truckstop 40 miles down the road is happening. I think trucks parking together is safe. I used to run the Southwest a lot and sure liked all the small towns to shut down in but back east sucked as well as any big midwest city

yeah... driving down the highway with hazards on with a 40-60mph speed differential between you and the rest of traffic is safe...
Still run paper, will stay on them till someone comes knocking with a federal mandate. -
As was said, it depends on how tight they are, and I have heard of some so tight that they would make a dead night crawler squirm. Most times when it's either use them or else, the parameters are set tight. Companies that adopted before being coerced tend to make them more user friendly.
By the book, there is 'no' wiggle room. Peoplenet was so sensitive, it would reverse the direction traveled as soon as you start backing into a dock..
The other issues, which no one has mentioned here yet, is e-log users are supposed to carry enough paper to come up with logs in the event the 'box' isn't working, and some jurisdictions do write tickets for that. The other accepted ways of automating logging, which require printing and either signing or affixing an electronic signature, don't make a good backup, in my opinion and the opinion of others I know.(Too costly if you have to keep a printer around for no other reason.)(Before you tell me how cheap printers are, having one and keeping it working in temperature extremes isn't my idea of a good time). Some companies also demand repair before doing anything else in the event there is a malfunction.
Even q-comms malfunction.
