Hi! I'm just beginning to look at team driving with my husband. Wondering what it's really like out there. Spoke with a school recruiter who is probably blowing smoke up my... Any veteran teams want to give me their 2 cents worth? I'd sure appreciate it!

    Hi!
There are a few husband and wife teams on this forum, and by far the most 'vocal' is our very own Texas-Nana. Send her a PM and get yapping, she will tell it like it is.

You could also look at threads about schools, and decide which one is for you, there are good and bad out there. Not sure where you are, but there will be someone here from your state who can help you.

And go check out the Ladies Room, its where the other wives all chat. Some drive team, others stay 'home alone', (me included, for now, considering CDL next year though!).

And welcome to the best trucking forum on the good ol www!

Oops. It seems I'm too new to send PMs. Would you be so kind as to let Texas-Nana that I'd love to hear her thoughts? Thanks!

You can send PMs via a mod, no problem, just ask them to fwd it.
Go to the bottom of the main menu page and scroll down to see which mods are online.

But i will also try to contact Texas-Nana and ask her to read this thread.

Hello Kate and welcome to The Trucker's Report. We're mighty glad to have you join us.

As Mrs T said I do team with my husband. I'll be happy to answer any questions you have and be of any help to you that I can be. :biggrin_25525:

I love being a driver. I think I love doing it even more than my husband does. It isn't the easiest way to live and work......you're in a tiny little space with another person 24/7 and yes we love our husbands but trust me........it can get a bit tense at times. LOL But a little chocolate usually helps.

Does your husband already drive or would you both be new drivers?

And when Mrs T said I'm "vocal" does that mean I talk a lot?????:biggrin_2559:

Texas-Nana, if you talk a lot we should get along just fine! My hubby doesn't drive yet either. We've been together for over 20 years and the recession has us looking at alternative careers. Since we enjoy each other's company more than anyone else we know :biggrin_2559:, we thought what the hey?!

My biggest concerns are about really how it feels to be on the road 24/7 for 14 days and then home for only 2. Do you keep a home? Or is that schedule real?

So far we have only spoken with a school recruiter and I'm concerned about his level of honest disclosure...is he telling me what I want to hear or do the companies really like teams? Also, he's claiming we could be making six figures a year which is mighty tempting these days!

We're not young and foolish anymore...kids, grandkids, careers and business ownership all under our belts so I want to go into this "eyes wide open." Honestly, I'd love to sit down and chat over a cup of coffee or two with a driving team and that's how I found the forum. Thanks again for any info you're willing to share. We're in SoCal.
