Hey Mike, what does your guy think about the Cobra LX models and the new Uniden 880?

Well what I heard about the new cobra 29lx is this....was up to see Raccoon in Tampa today and he said the board for the display is junk lots of them coming in with fried chips due to near lightning strikes with radio on or off. As well as them just shorting out was going to buy one but will keep my old style 29. And no they weren't anything he has worked on just drivers walking through the door with no display on the lx. Would guess the 880 will experience this same problem since it's more than likely the same board.

 

Yes they are a sharp looking radio but just too many things can go wrong with them for me. Once that board goes only place to get one is Cobra so how long will that take?

 

He had one on his bench the other day and thought they were pretty cool. He doesn't do retail so he doesn't stock radios and as far as I know that is the only one he has looked at so far. This particular one was working and just needed a tune up.
