I think the only thing logging it as you work it would do is make alot more trucks team driven, if the hauler wants to keep the contract he will find a way to keep the goods moving. Shippers don't want to hear excuses and they don't care about you waiting. Drivers and o/o's don't have a whole lot of pull when it comes to stuff like that. Right now GOOD freight is pretty slow so what do you do, piss off the good paying freight and have to find something else to take its place or do you just put up with their bs and live to fight another day

LOL yeah that is why I don't think electronic logs will replace the good ol' comic book
EVERYBODY knows it is happening and what is more, they know WHY it is happening
As long as the top dogs(Company owners, politicians etc.) in this industry stay grossly over greedy, creative logging is here to stay. They will blow all kinds of smoke up the public's bottom just to keep their profits insanely high
That is the whole magic behind it

Somehow I doubt that. I thought there was a law in place that required all companies to switch to electronic logs within 2 or 3 years. That way it at least LOOKS like someone addressed the problem, as if it's all the driver's fault.

read the first few posts here ,sorta upsets me.just can`t understand why anyone would want to throw more ammunition out there that could make this 14 hour B.S. worse than it is.surely you guys can contribute something that would lead to a more productive end.as tight as the economy is right now,the future looking like it doesjust can`t see the purpose of the comments of a few of my so called peers.

Ok...Here is an idea for the DOT if they want every driver to log it 100% as they did it.
1. Make law that says all shippers & recievers will load/unload their freight w/o force the driver to do it or have driver pay for loading/unloading.
2. Have drivers PAID when they are delayed at the docks ( 90-100 $ per hour or any part of )
3. Drivers will be paid FOR ALL WORK ON LINE 4
4. drivers paid when they are sleeping (line 2 ) Your still working when sleeping ( babysitting truck and load )
That is just a small list to start.... I know there is more. Now the chance we will see this happen....Not a chance.Last edited by a moderator: Sep 24, 2008

It all comes down to money
IF and thats a big IF the majority of drivers and I mean Professional drivers out there had the nuts to do things by the book instead of being greedy and ran by the book your industry would NOT be in the state it's in now. If your honest about the things you do to make a buck or 2 think about if it had been done legaly by now you would be in a position of running and earnng a living.
Seriously think about it. If you all got together and said ok this job will cost X and thats what were gonna charge the brokers will say no-way what would happen ,,,
well after a while the broker is going to have to up the price so he can get it moved cause if he dont and no-one touches that broker he'll lose the work and someone else has to move it, they will have the same problem unless the rate is incressed...
So its all in your own hands.... Fiddle the books HOS etc and the only people you are doing out of work
