I have switched back and forth between synthetic and non a couple times. No leaks.

Ditch using CAT SOS for sampling and go to Blackstone Labs for your oil analysis. Pay the extra $10 on every sample so they can check TBN and they will tell you how long you can safely run the oil before changing it. I'm of the opinion one brand of oil is as good as another. Never heard of any oil failures before. I use the cheapest oil I can get which is Wal Mart Supertech. It's good stuff the samples don't lie.

I wonder why TBN isn't included in the SOS analysis. I noticed it was missing but just figured I could make a determination based on other indicators within the sample results.

Yeah I don't know why. You would think they'd check that too but they don't. That's what tells you when oil is "worn out" though.

Just checked Blackstone and it's double the cost of Cat if I want to do the TBN. Not sure about $40. It's 30 for the analysis and an extra 10 for the TBN. I'll have to do some research.

I do my own oil changes so save some money there but to me $40 is not a lot of money and it's just part of the routine maintenance. That engine is not cheap and to know what the lifeblood of it is doing $40 is a small price to pay for no expensive surprises.

We've been using that too on both trucks for close to 2 years now. Haven't noticed anything different than Rotella. Haven't done samples but no more oil usage than before

I used Miles from Walmart for years. Now I'm using Travelers from TSC. I never have to wait on shipping and it's only like 50 dollars per 5 gallon. They have Delvac for like $60 too. I might start using that instead since it's a synthetic blend. I'm having a hard time buying that Sinopec stuff. I can't get over that it's red and made by Commies.

Made by Warren Distribution, same as Amazon oil, Costco brand , Mag oil, and others.
I still use my tried and true VALVOLINE Blue. 15/40 VALVOLINE for everything else at home as well.
