Lets go way way way out on a limb and say the trailer is 2000 pounds lighter which is impossible, but lets say it is. How will that increase fuel mileage by 1 MPG ?
Do you work for or sell Extreme?
I do like the tie down idea and would like to try it and see if it worked as well as it looks.
As far as boasting the lightest, well you can only make something so light that will hold up.
Extreme trailers any good?

Whether it last or not will be the real question and only time will tell that. These trailers need to go through a 20 year life cycle before we know if their design is any good. Anyone can build a super light trailer that breaks in half after 5 years and this company was founded in 2016. I'm rooting for them, but until they've passed at least 10 years without issues I'll be dragging a Mac. -
I looked at one about 3-4 weeks ago inline in front of me. (Fraley Shilling) It didn't look like it would do what a Mac would do but I hope I'm wrong. I hope they do though because competition is good for prices.
We will see. -
The fuel mileage increase statements are coming from my customers. Now if it was only one or two guys who are stating the fuel savings, then I too would seriously question it . . . . but it seems that this comes up with everyone I have financed. Now my pool of guys with these trailers is still quite small (around 27 trailers now) but it is something that comes up with all of them.
Some of those guys track it religiously and I do take their word for it as I have known and dealt with them for 20+ years. All have industry experience and have pulled every trailer known to mankind.
I finance whatever brand the customer wants. On the surface it doesn't matter to me what they buy but it does matter in the long run. The more successful they are, the easier my job gets.
I too am keeping an eye on the durability aspect and only time will tell. The oldest trailer is now only one year old and that customer and I talk regularly. So far he's been very pleased with the trailer.
One of my customers is getting a four axle Extreme trailer delivered tomorrow. He's a MAC guy through and through but couldn't get a reasonable delivery time from them. He found comfort that the main Extreme guys have a lot of MAC and 'the good (old) Benson' experience. He's equally excited and nervous as this is a big leap of faith for him.
Again - I'll finance anything - but I do like to see advances that benefit the industry. I hope this is one of them. It could make a huge difference.R8Merk Thanks this. -
Proof of 1 MPG or it never happened. These so called customers you say told you this, I would double and triple check any and all info they put down on the loan app.
You sound like you have a little more invested than just financing the trailer to new owners. -
Again, I'll finance anything - whatever the customer wants. It's just cool to see improvements whenever they come up. I remember when Cat went from a 3406B to a 3406E - the uproar about going to electronic was huge. Lots of guys balked at it and said it will cause nothing but problems. I think it is safe to say the 3406E was a decent motor. Not knocking the old mechanical . . . .
The other thing 'industry improvement' that has really taken off is the automatic transmission. Now that's a whole different story. But again an interesting one from my perspective.
I have several customers who said they will talk to anyone about these trailers. PM me a message and I'll give you their numbers. Then you can assess these guys directly to see if they know what they're talking about. Since working with most of these guys for 20+ years and seeing them run their business, I am very comfortable in believing what they tell me. I get to see their Financial Statements annually so I notice trends.
Not sure how I'd make money since I don't sell trailers and I assume the vast majority of you guys are in the States. . . . . so no financing opportunities for me.Last edited: Jan 4, 2019

Just as I thought, no proof.
For someone to say 1 MPG pulling this trailer is a joke. And for you to repeat it makes you the same.
If you want to sell trailers provide the proof and you'll have us standing in line. Otherwise your selling snake oil. -
I'm not sure how to prove it - oh wait a minute - I did say that I have customers who will gladly talk to guys. PM & I'll give you their numbers.
Again - I do not sell trailers. I finance them. Whatever brand your heart desires. I think I have repeated that several times.
My allegiance is with my customers - most of them I have dealt with for many years. When I have them telling me they're making more $$$, I take note.Aamcotrans Thanks this. -
I know this is an old thread but I thought I’d post anyway
I do know of a company who swore up and down how great these were and bought nothing but these
Well from what I heard a few months ago, they have stopped buying any of these due to all the issues and breaks
2nd hand info but came from one of their employees so take it for what it’s worth
Also
Why would any trailer get better fuel mileage?
80k is 80k
Actually I would think unless it had wings and started to lift off the ground that the possibility of it getting worse mileage is more likely
Simply because if you shave off a few thousand pounds from the trailer then that means you can put that much more weight on the deck and depending on we’re that weight is placed it could result in more drag. The easier to carry Vs drag theories
Heavier in the back would or could cause worse fuel mileage right?
I also met a few guys over the past couple years and asked about these great trailers and all of them said if you plan to sell it in 2-3 years you should be ok but then the resale $$ won’t be there like other brands
Just a little infoD.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Recent post called my attention to this thread, which seems to be well over 3 years old on the second to last post, and yet, no one has yet posted a link to the site to view this trailer. Everything at this point is circumstantial and heresay. So, if you're curious about this trailer or that neat looking J Channel chain/strap combo securement, here's the web site to look it over. Apparently it's out of Dover,OH, something someone asked way back in this thread where it was.
