It's in my state regulations, not FMCSA.

I've often wondered why there is no specified provision requiring it by FMCSR. I've always carried a back up, usually an old pair.
It's REAL easy to tweak them during the course of the day. Especially if you are going to fingerprint stuff.
If you tweak them where they are unusable what are you going to do?

Been using goggles4u.com for over 10 years. Never had a problem with quality. They are the same frames you buy for $700 at an opticians office. My bifocals cost $37 for frames and lenses. I got a pair of prescription sunglasses for $12.

Reading glasses from Wal Mart are maybe $12. No cop is going to be able to tell reading glasses from prescription glasses.

You cannot afford not to have a backup.

If I needed a copy of my frames I can get one in a couple days delivered. But that was during a time when you carried spares of complete glasses, I had two pair in addition to these and a set of shooting glasses repurposed for night work and it had its own lens prescription.

If you get into a fight or run into something really bad and not have a spare, you are not legal to drive until you get glasses made and fitted that could take a very long time.

When people say "I cannot afford...." I say you cannot afford not to have them. It's cheaper to buy em spare and ready to go when you need it right then than to lose a week or two of work if not getting fired.
