Don Garlits had to quit drag racing because of detached retinas from the g force of the parachutes.

I too tried contacts for a while but they just were more of a hassle then I could justify. Once I leave the truck or car, I can generally do without corrective eyewear. I can actually drive without glasses but would not want to do it long term or expect to read many billboards very well.

I believe it. There is a quite a shock when those chutes come out.

That's another reason I carry with railgun (Steel frame, 24 pound spring etc) in super .255 grain with 1350 fps. I cannot risk a good old fashioned fight anymore. If there is going to be a problem with bad guys coming on.. well. I don't intend to take a hit in head. There isnt much left under the Bone. (Har har har...)

Don't you love it when those contacts fold in half and slide up to the top of your eye? It's a great feeling. lol. My biggest issue was falling asleep with them on. Could never remember to take the #### things out.

Aside from that your eyes are vascular and any bacteria or virus you have have on your hands will be inserted right into your system through your eyes the minute you forget to sanitize your hands.

I very rarely had any issues from soft contact wear. I was on a 72 hour 24 hour cycle. It is OK to sleep in soft contacts if you are doing it precisely as the eye doc tells you. Since my cataract surgery I no longer need to wear anything.

When I first started driving and we all went down for our physicals at orientation, they had a wrinkled up eye chart on the wall and all but one light bulb was burned out in the exam room. I never needed glasses in my life and I couldn't make out some of the letters. I asked the gal if she wore glasses and she said no, so I walked up to the chart and asked her to stand on the line and read the characters that I couldn't see. She refused, and I had to run out and get a $500 pair of glasses before I could start driving and it's on my license. Since then I've passed every eye exam at the DMV and subsequent DOT physicals, but the restriction is still on my license.

Lmao. It’s truck driving not combat flight school like top gun where you cannot have corrective lenses.
