An unfortunate Texas cowboy experienced his Ford blowing more than a gasket along 287 yesterday. The white exhaust smoke severely limited visibility briefly across the road north of Memphis, Texas. I'm guessing this poor Ford's heads cracked, distributor broke apart, and the catalytic converter split open.
Used to own a five speed 1983 Ford Ranger. Needed a new distributor cap and rotor, kept backfiring. One day, it sounded like a shotgun went off directly under my seat. I checked the undercarriage and discovered that the catalytic converter split wide open. Had to install a new distributor and cat after that fiasco. Learned stuff.
As an ex-Amish person, I bought a 7.3L Powerstroke so I could remember what it was like to live without power. Full disclosure: I was never Amish, and I would never own a Powerstroke.
Yeah. Because some low lives took his saddle in Houston and he lost his wife and girlfriend along that trip. Having some luck for sure.
Since we're on this thread about diesel Fords, what is the whining sound that comes from these things when taking off? We have an idiot kid in his mid 20's that lives down the road from us & you can hear him every time he leaves the house & starts down the road. It sounds like its tore up. Sounds kinda like transmission is slipping or an odd tire spinning sound. I am assuming that its a tuner that causes that but, no one has yet been able to tell me what it is, or why it makes all that dang noise. I know these kids enjoy it & it means power to them & they like to make it sound that way & show off, but IMHO, its stupid. However, back in the 70's, my dad thought what I did to my vehicles was stupid too. I hope someone can finally shed some light on what that noise is, what's causing it & why.
