And my daddy can beat up your daddy...blah blah blah... everyone has an opinion. Bottom line is both Ford and Dodge have good motors and they work very well for hot shot.

Nissan and Toyota are looking to crack into the hotshot market too. I am still partial to Ford and Dodge/Ram. Both have reliable engines and will be great workhorses for many years as long as you stay on top of the maintenance.

I talked with Ford, not the dealer but the company and when I asked them about this market and expedite market they were clear, the amount of time and money to be put into just researching it outstripped the potential sales of vehicles in those markets combined. Their approach was to build a universal truck and van that would be used for a lot of different applications with maybe some packages focusing on the markets that can be installed at the dealer level, the same with Dodge and GM. So I would expect that the Nissan and Toyota marketing teams who do the planning can see a sales of maybe 400 units for these markets which for these companies are so small that they wouldn't even bother with it. -
Really? I'm seeing a lot of the Nissan cargo van on the road.... Isuzu has flatbed and box trucks that have been on the roads for decades...just a matter of time before we see a 1 ton Tundra with a good diesel engine...

Nobody had to tell me. I earned my living repairing those injection pumps.
That's the PSD, not the 7.3 IDI, which is the subject of this post AND my commentary. The 7.3 PSD ( and those that followed ) use a very high pressure oil pump to actuate a mechanical injector via a solenoid controlled, oil operated hydraulic cylinder. The are extremely sensitive to wrong oil, old oil, contamination, and leakage - and leaks are common. It has extra engine oil capacity, and a pump in the engine valley that produces electronically controlled high pressure engine oil to fire the injectors. Common problems with the PSD include failed sensors (some of them result in instant dead motor and a tow), leaking o-rings, failed wiring under the rocker covers, failed control modules, failed solenoids, failed low pressure fuel supply pumps, air leaks into the fuel, etc.
Not true at all. The Power Stroke Diesel injectors ( 7.3 PSD ) injectors initially were VERY expensive, and often initial trouble started at well under 100K miles.
LOL! That's hilarious. That 7.3 will scatter the bottom half of the block, or lift the heads right off the cylinders trying to pull as hard as the 5.9 Cummins will do for 700K miles. If it doesn't melt down first.
Oh, and yes, the 6.0 was very poorly engineered - in a large number of ways that ranged from insufficient mechanical strength to major components (especially head to block bolts / sealing and block warpage) to minor stuff like air intake hoses that blew off under boost.

Toyota is trying to find a good diesel engine package and Nissan has their commercial line of vans. They have been working with Chrysler on their Titan and the scuttlebutt is them going with either a Cummins package or a Mercedes Benz diesel package. Read up.

Army gator, they are putting a V8 Cummins in the Titan starting 2014.

There ya go lol. I have heard rumors that Ford was doing the same in 15 but some time this summer I won't be surprised to see some Titans with numbers and logos on the doors.
