Y'all very supportive. I dig that.

OP - know your limits. If you don't think you can actually do it, then move along. No need to have an incident out on the road that could hurt, maim or kill someone..... As said, some folk aren't any good at doing what it takes, for a variety of reasons. If you don't trust yourself to be able to do it, then you're a wise fella for backing down now. ALWAYS trust your gut.

Each of us processes information differently. We all learn new things at a pace set how we are made. I was speaking to a young lady some time ago who was ready to quit. I told her the story of Milton Hershey and his old shipping boss & Dairy manager H.B. Reese. Milton Hershey tried and failed many times to get the process of mixing Milk and Chocolate. What if he had quit and given up? I know somebody would have got it right and made Billions. However, let's not forget H.B. Reese. Today if I am not mistaken the Reeses brands are the number one seller when it comes to Chocolate candy. Without Milton Hershey Reeses might not have come along. I know that would have really made that young kid in North Georgia back in the 60s unhappy because he sure loved his Reeses Cups. H.B. Reese started his company in his house and later sold the business to Hershey. Point of all this? Get knocked off that house clean up the blood change your clothes and get back on it. Keep doing so until you tame that horse!

I actually know the Milton Hershey story on my wife's side it's a family tradition to work at Hershey park my son is the last in our family. My wife and sister & brother in law work for Milton Hershey School. Be resilient and learn.

I am a very distant relative of H B Reese. I would have to call one of my cousins to find the exact lineage. I think my Paternal Grandfather's Maternal Grandmother and H B Reese's mother were either sisters or 1st cousins. I do know that branch of my family is from the Harrisburg Pa area.

There's a school I think in OC that "rents" trucks and preps you for the test, they drive with you there. You can do it in a day or so. Here's the thread I started with choices...
    Express CDL Programs

Anyone who yells at you for going slow is wrong. I think you're being taken advantage of and they are using the sunk cost fallacy against you.

    Look,
look bro. May be you can do what I did . I studied the book on my own time. I took the practice test that you can find in different websites.
I watched YouTube on how to do pre-trip inspection. I did that for like 1 month . Read , practice the test and watched YouTube about pre trip inspection.
I took the first portion of the test and got my permit .
With my permit on hand I asked a couple of friends of mine ( owner op) to teach me how to drive . I practiced with them for about 6-8 Sundays .
We placed cones and all I have to do is back up . It was a little bit easy for me the clutch , because my first car that I drove since I was 13 , it was manual, but other than that , it was not easy at all.
But , that is how I did it .So , you may want to take that rute.
This is another experience that I had. A friend of mine failed twice , the driving portion. He couldn’t pass it . He was traumatized by his instructor. His instructor was an angry man with a lots of issues . He was a big guy but his confidence was so little so he had to yell at people to feel better ,anyway. Since my friend had his permit, I took him with me over the road . We never talk about driving or doing this or that . He just drove . Some small issues , but he did great . He went back and took the driving test with a different instructor and had not problem passing the test .
For you to acknowledge that you have a hard time passing the test , you are humble guy and may be that you need to relax and have some one to guide you instead trying to teach you .
    Good luck bro .

Trust me thats not the case, when there big boys who weigh over 380 lbs you know your better keep trying unless your that person please don't drive then. I discriminate against fat people we all have choices to be willing to learn a trade,or taking care there bodies makes no difference we all have choices, if you have reservation before taking a test its understandable but know this maybe you really didn't want the job honestly I would recommend no one get a CDL and be come OTR driver its a hard life and not for many people even less if you have family.

I recommend get a degree in something less pay and enjoy over this anyway. I didn't have any options growing up to enjoy after .jr high school get a job move out simple I got my cdl fear of not making a decent living due my lack of education if you have the option further it I recommend you pursue that option first always.

Don't be scared act like you belong and drive it like you own it.

    Very cool story.

But driving a truck puts many other lives in danger.
    Making milk chocolate does not.

Someone that is a slow learner, or simply unable to do the job, puts too many lives at risk.

If this same person went to work for Swift (because it is a great company to blame for lousy drivers), and then was involved in an accident because they were ineffectual at handling this type of work - how many of the same people encouraging this person would be right back on here blaming Swift for hiring the person in the first place?

This is NOT an equal world and life where everyone can do everything and anything they want to.
Some people are simply better at certain things, while others are not.
We all need to know our limitations, and others need to see it as well so we do not encourage people at the wrong times.
