Seems like you can't take a joke...running over a curb is a matter of profound indifference. It happens quite literally hundreds, maybe thousands, of times every day.
Failed 3 different rd tests hitting curb each time, should I quit

And you need to lose the attitude or you won't be here long. The members here basically try to help. Most of them anyway. And a thick skin is a plus on this forum or anywhere else in this industry. You are always going to get responses you don't like. Get over them without calling people dickheads201 Thanks this.

I failed to get my CDL on the first go in June of 2011. The skills test had a 90° ally dock that I failed twice. I aced it on the third try only to clip the curb with my wheel at the end of the road test. I felt like failure on so many levels as I packed up my things to prepare for boarding the Greyhound in Little Rock. A month later, I got another chance to get my CDL out in Cedar Rapids. Sometimes it takes some people a little longer than others. Don't give up. Once you get your license, you can to hit as many curbs as you want

I pull 53’s around the city. Half the time axles are slid all the way back. Years ago I did the same. Axles were welded! Hitting curbs is inevitable. I’m real good at it,

I'm a super trucker, I can not relate, but if I ever did hit a curb I would just call it a rolling tire check.

All the talk about hitting curbs as an everyday thing, but when you are being tested it is an automatic fail.

Wow, okay, I'm surprised the staff hasn't cut this one, it a) shows the tolerance of the staff, and b) the desperation going on today in the job market. This person came here with a legitimate question, in fact, I had to back to see just what it was. I can understand how someone in an entirely new field, could be apprehensive about something as menial, to us, as hitting a curb. Geez, Loouise, I ran over more curbs than I care to admit, AND SO DID ALL OF YOU!!
. I've heard stories of drivers in NY pushing parked cars out of the way to make a turn, on the police officers orders.
To notgood: I'll be the one to apologize for some folks behavior here, we came from a time where we didn't have to "learn" how to drive a truck, and hold a bit of a grudge, that this is what happened to the industry. We've gotten to the point, that there is seemingly nothing wrong going from a Prius to a 40 ton vehicle. Yeah, due to lack of experience, you're going to run over curbs, over drive the unit, and end up 14th truck back in a pileup. Certain indicators tell seasoned drivers you might not have what it takes, but the companies are so strapped for drivers, they are willing to take that chance. There was a time when you had to have a thick skin to make it in the industry. That, for many reasons, is no longer true. Anyone can do the job as well as a cowboy, but you can't be running over curbs. Look, you can do this, but you have to be more diligent, take it seriously, and guess what? You'll make it.

It's just one of those things that nicely illustrates the difference between the classroom and real life because there are intersections and driveways where it is literally impossible to avoid it unless you want your front end to hit something instead.Numb Thanks this.

You should try to do a pay per view for your next road test. I'm thinking The Comedy Channel might have an interest.

There's a difference between:
"Whelp, no way to make this without curbing it"
And
"Oops, I screwed up, gonna curb it"
And
"What was that load bang and why did the truck shake?"
On a cdl test there is no excuse for hitting a curb. All the turns are big enough for a 53 foot with a sleeper to make.
