The number of times you failed your drivers test does not reflect on how well you will or will not do in your actual job. The sight side backing you did was around cones. The only time in 10 years I had to avoid cones was on a driving test for Transport America. I only worked there for 3 days. The maneuver that you are doing is just moving over one dock. Like you were in door 12 and they want you to move to door 11. You pull up and angle back, then straight up. You would find this maneuver to be very easy if they had real obstacles in your way. Those cones are hard to see.
Had you passed the test the first time, you still would have to learn how to drive. The test and real life are two separate things. I have found trucking to have some rewarding points. For me, having to wait another 6 months to retest would have be well worth it. I encourage you to keep trying.
Failed class A test 6 times

I agree... Real trailers in the dock doors make it super easy to back straight to the dock.
I had to back yesterday and it was harder backing it just using the lines to the dock.
Best of luck to OP! -

I don't agree with the state on many things. This is one I do.
BTW. Those troopers are also CDL holders.
One student messed up royally.
Trooper that tested me got in the truck, turned it around, and dumped it in the hole on blindside parallel one shot.
Because the guy started flapping his gums.
When you Fail in Massachusetts, you are failed by a Cdl holding state trooper who also does commercial truck enforcementioned.
They only have 40 troopers in that division in the whole state. They are the only 40 who test you.TequilaSunrise Thanks this. -
bottomdumpin and BostonTanker Thank this.

However the state has a 12 week waiting list for a test currently.
There are probably a few bad apples, however my trooper was a straight shooter. He even asked the guy who messed up royally if he was sure about his maneuver. The guy told the trooper yes.
Well he didn't get out to look and was over the lines.
How many troopers you know are going to ask if the testee is sure before he fails have?
Not many...
The trooper wanted that particular driver to pass.
The guy in question was a great man who made mistakes in his youth and was well on his way to making a better life for his family and himself.
We all knew this guy's story, and we're all cheering him on.
So should the trooper have let him pass?
No.
Just like everyone else who passes, you must do the maneuvers correctly.
And the pre trip/ brake bleed down.
This trooper was a little more liberal than most.Chinatown Thanks this. -
Only problem I find with using games to practice backing is that its very hard to judge distance and unless American truck has changed since I last tried it the Mirrors are absolutely terrible. -
Go hire a private instructor. Not being a dick but if you failed 6 times its for a reason. Possibly bad instructors at school or just isnt your thing. 2017? Wow, maybe get on working for a smaller company on the dock where they will let you practice on free time.
TequilaSunrise Thanks this. -
If you fail the mass exam 6 times, you get bumped back 6months minimum.
If you fail 6 times, go home and find another passion
