Man I thought I was a super trucker passing my test first try. I never had to parallel park or anything. Just a relaxing drive through town with a 90 degree back up and a hill park/hill start.

Problem in USA is each state sets their own rules. For example in Ilinois people fail for saying the word "hose" 3 times during a pre-trip inspection, instead of using the word "line." Same with "guage" vs. "indicator." Totally irrelevant to driving trucks or getting a cdl.
The CDL should be a federal license with set rules and the license good no matter where you live or work. Any time we have politicians writing the rules and those same politicians receiving money from lobbyists that represent anti-trucking groups, there will be corruption and mishmash of rules and regulations that don't make sense to a rational person.

Celadon would be the best for MA as the test results can be transferred and you do not have to give up you MA license. TMC requires you to turn in your license for an Iowa permit. My advice? DON'T

I didn't know TMC does that; that's not good.

What are your plans, other than immigrating to Las Vegas.

Well, not sure yet. I am a big guy and need to drop about 90. Was 110 but have changed a few habits and weight is coming off.

Doctor, new one for me, is warning me that although my BP, pulse, Chol, and sugar is perfect, getting into a truck and being sedentary will change all of that. Right now I have a very active job as a butcher, up and down stairs all day long.

It was a wake up call that I needed and I know that I needed to lose 100 lbs. The doc headed a huge study at MA General (no pun intended) on people who are obese and have sedentary jobs which did include many truck drivers. He said the truck drivers who were morbidly obese were either diabetic, high BP, Chol, and were at risk for Deep vein thrombosis.

So, i may just stick to being a butcher and move to Vegas and try to work for Sprouts.

    Yeah, the list includes:

    CRST
    Prime
    Jim Palmer
    Roehl
    Swift
    West Express
and many of the other carriers who have schools.

You surrender your drivers license for a permit in that state.

Celadon and XPO Conway are the 2 that I know of that make you keep your MA credentials and then when you pass the CDL in either MO or IN the results are transmitted to MA. You contact a certain office and then go down and get issued a license.
Trust me, I have spent hours researching this.

As with any story I am sure there is more to this that we are not hearing. Not that the OP is fibbing but it seems that there is something missing.
