There is another type of color test where they show you various colored cards... Each card is 1 solid color. If you are mildly color blind thus is the test you want... I cant pass the Ishihara test either, but I can distinguish single solid colors just fine with the exception of a few wierd shades of dark-blue and purple... Or wierd shades of brown, dark-green and purplish-red.

Yes i am one of those people. I agree the color blindness issue is not knowing different shades of pink etc. Traffic signal colors are all that matter. I was and have done that test also and can't get to far. So the examiner holds up three cards. Yellow, red and green. That i see very well. Your examiner is a idiot.

I go to a chiropractor for my DOT exam. They hold up a picture of a stoplight and ask me what the colors are.

The hearing test is just a “whisper” test and they take my blood pressure the old school way. No machines.

I refuse to go somewhere that is trying to find a reason to fail me. I prefer the places that want to pass me.

Reminds me of my last DOT physical. DR Sager (now retired) at the Hampton, Va VA medical center. The nurse took my BP, had me read off the numbers, and tell her what the colors were on top. Once DR Sager came in she did a quick check of my breathing, looked down my throat, and then took a quick look at my last labs. Handed me a 1-year card told me to be careful and out the door, I went. I am excited about something in this FAST-ACT about allowing ALL VA providers to do DOT physicals.
