My last job you might lift a Comcheck to pay the lumper. I would almost call sexual discrimination on these requirements. Do they even have different test for men and woman? There are many woman that don't have the body frame to lift heavy objects.

Does Knight require drivers to unload the freight?

I would say in the future they will receive some sort of feedback. As long as you meet DOT requirements you should be hire able.

Do they turn away handicapped people too? There is such of a thing as making special accommodations so everyone can get a job and make a living.

I hate Chiropractor DOT physicals. They like to get inventive and practice some of their trade within a physical.

What does holding barbells straight out have to do with unloading freight? They should do something like moving a stack of boxes from point A to point B. That's more relative to see if you can do the job or not.

I would go online and file a DOL discrimination complaint and see where it went. If nothing else to make them think twice about their program.

Next job review their website closer and find one that is high in no touch freight and drop/hook. There are so many of them that you don't have to work for a company like Knight. You do have 1 year experience. Start looking at smaller 100-200 driver companies. They have a good balance of freight and benefits. You'll be much happier.

Can't wait to get to the gym and try out those moves.....I don't lift there mainly do cardo stuff.

It does seem unfair the lift test is not a sliding scale type of deal.

ps From what I've seen on TR you can do much better than knight.

I see CondoCruiser beat me to the draw on bring up many points relative to and effectively, borderline or even "out & out" discrimination.
Seems to me the "test" they required you to do was waay over & above the normal call to duty, for the job (dry van or reefer).

Just the fact that the chiropractic "assistant" let go of the test apparatus, causing you to fall backward, shows how "non-standard" and "misch-mosh" the test procedure was.
Push come to shove, that in itself, could have caused you to perform less than 100% on any tests that followed. You have a valid gripe there.
I'd say forget Knight, and go for a better company. But I'd also file a complaint to DOL/EEOC.

I must say, you have an excellent way of writing explaining all the details of not only what happened concerning the test procedure,
but also intelligent ways of handling its outcome.
Please keep us posted on what comes in the future and your attitude tells me you will do greatttt!

what kind of freight does Knight haul that requires a driver to lift certain amounts of weight? Also, does Knight use lumper services at all, or is all the freight unloaded by the driver?

Also, IF I AM CORRECT, I believe that JBS Carriers requires their drivers to be able to lift 90 lbs..

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!
