This is some good advice. Thanks for the post. Lets recap, stay out of the trucks stops for meals, (Walmart). Pay your truck first (not the owner), Watch your idleing time (pay close attention to your fuel ecomony). Watch the toll roads fees (?Can I go around and save some money vs miliage). Thanks again, These are the things that I (and many others) need to know. Every penny counts.

P.S. I was talking to an older trucker today, and what he told me made a lot of since. He said, "The best money you'll ever spend is the money you save." He's an OO, with landstar for the last ten years. This guy, to me was amazing. 69 years young, has a 2001 western star OO spec, bought it new and owns it outright. He doesn't run as hard as he use to, but still does pretty good. He said he shut his truck down from Sept - Mar. And when he is working, he only runs about two weeks out and sits at home for two weeks. I don't believe he could do this if he wasn't smart with his money in the beginning. As we were talking, i witness him turning down a couple of loads, good runs I would think. Said he was heading home for a couple weeks of R & R. I would love to be at that point in 15 years or so. This Is why this kind of forum is a much needed web site.

now i really hate to hear of any man loosing his truck and usally it means that he has lost a lot moe then the truck, but it happens all to often in perticular if your new to business but im glad to say most will pick themselves up get it together and try again and as likly as not this time they will make it its a tuff business but if you go thrue hard time you got to remember the only time you lose is when you quit and there is always room for a scond chance in this business and all of us have gone thrue tuff time but most just keep on going and thats a good thing.
BEST OF LUCK TO ALL. SOUTHERNPRIDE
