I didn't think about that. It's a DOT reportable event I believe. If that's the case you won't have to worry about your DAC because you'll probably lose your CDL for a year....at least that is how they do it in CA.

Well, if thats the case, then he definitely needs a lawyer. Because I'd fight this tooth and nail, if he has two consecutive negatives, and one was collected as a backup to the positive one, then its wrong for the DOT to remove someones license for a faulty result.

I can't believe that they can report, and remove without conclusive results from the spit specimen. Thats just wrong. :biggrin_25510:

If the second (split) specimen for the initial pre-hire test is negative, than the preceding test must also be counted as negative, because there is always a possibility of a false positive on the initial test, AND the purpose of the SECOND (out of the split-samples) is to RULE OUT a false positive.

    1. Marijuana (THC metabolite)
    2. Cocaine
    3. Amphetamines
    4. Opiates (including heroin)
    5. Phencyclidine (PCP)
Does anyone know (for sure) if these are the only drugs tested for?

IBUPROFEN can cause a false positive?!?!?!!! Wow, I'd never have thought that!!! It's my drug of choice for my headaches - but I'll definitely keep that in mind if Mike ever has to have another drug test (since it's around, he uses it, too, on the occasional times he has a headache).

    Thanks for the info.

And, yes, you can definitely test positive if you are around someone who is smoking weed. If you inhale the smoke in the room, it gets into your system. You can get high and definitely will test positive for THC.

Thanks, MM. Good to know. I do, too, for headaches at times. Do be careful - it's very hard on the liver when taken in large quantities for long periods of time.
