10 high 10 low. Runs two separate high low switches. Bottom ten is majorly low "Mud gears".

Top ten is 5 & 5 split. I remember my old man having one in an ford Louisville LTL 9000

    You asked:
    I answered:
If you didn't want to hear my answer, you shouldn't have asked me the question.
All I've been saying is that it WASN'T the fact that it was an 18 speed, and that you would've stalled a 10 speed too. The "problem" was all in your head. You psyched yourself out, allowing yourself to forget what you'd learned in school.

You may have thought that was the point of your first post, but it wasn't what you posted. See above quote.

You mean that's a real transmission? I thought it was a joke.

Nope that was a gear box that took some serious skills if you used all 20

Hate to see how said "driver" would of reacted to a 5 x 4 or a 10 x 4 two stick transmission.18 speed is a piece of cake. Or try shifting the no longer in service sst114 spicer transmission..
The old 2 speed elc. rear end trucks could be a pain in the winter time when the points froze together in the cold weather

So why not ask the test person about shift pattern.. Was it not on the dash some where.
18 speed easy, engage clutch, ease shifter into 1st or 2nd gear. put foot on foot brake, release park park. ease clutch out. you start forward. Then at proper rpm, engage clutch, move shifter to next gear, ease into throttle and then when in 4th gear, lift small back lever or shifter up. proper rpm move shifter to 1st gear postion. Now your are in high range. Then if needed when again at proper rpm, move gray button on side of shifter forward. ease off throttle and wait for gear to change. No clutch needed. Repeat same steps for next gear positition... Easy...

gray button on side? What? how would I just know that or any one just know that? I was only trained with 10-speed. It may be as easy as that, but I did not have a day to prep and learn, I got in , it was something new to me, never seen before. We cant all be know it all's .

If they took 10mins to show me , i would of been happy to have that, but it was like

    Test.

    ####ed up 1 time.

    and your done.

    thats it.
