If you went to a school they should have never let you take the test if your not ready. A waste of time and money. I own a trucking Academy in Tangent, OR. We start out backing the first day of class and only use 53ft trailers. We very seldom have anyone do even 1 pull up on the straight back. You just need to practice and do small adjustments. Everyone tries to over-steer in the beginning. Good luck to you. Take your time, go at idle. If you can't remember which way to turn the wheel stop and think. Push the bottom of the steering wheel the way you want the trailer to go. just remember, small adjustments!!!!
Failed the road test for 2ND time

It may just be your nerves getting the better of you because you know how important this test is to your Driving future.
When you practice the maneuvers do it at idle speed (I hope your driving a manual transmission) and concentrate on the timing of turning the wheel.
So to help you relax remember: We were all new once.... no matter what it is you do. -

cabover and made up 2 pages of bs history and leased on to BJ McAdems in little rock and learned it all on my own back in 76. I understand you cant do that today but the point of telling you that was to show you that eventually you will succeed.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
I appreciate all the advice and kind words so far. What's frustrating to me is that I was pretty confident I had the concepts down by now. Maybe it wouldn't have been pretty but I thought I would pass. I did even worse today than I did the first time.
The straight back, I'm not sure what happened. I will admit, the seat was adjusted lower than I usually have it, but I still saw both sides of the trailer so I didn't think it would be an issue. When I pulled up and looked, I felt like I had a bad angle, like the trailer wasn't straight but I wasn't sure. I wish I had asked the instructor if I could pull up a little bit before starting. I hit two cones back to back, guy told me to get out and look. At this point I knew I was in deep ####. When I finished I asked him how many points I had, he wouldn't tell me but said I had too many already. Offsetting, long story short I made the same mistake as last time. Over steered, got confused and disoriented. Tried to pull up and get the trailer straight but at that point I was ####ed, had no clue how to fix it. On the fourth pull up he blew the whistle, told me to turn it off and get out.
I've seen some mention of nerves. I don't know how much of a factor it played. It's like I said, I felt confident going in. But once he said they were ready for me to start I get pretty anxious. Not to a point that I couldn't focus, but there was a physical reaction. Once I started ####ing up the straight back it got worse, and once I realized I couldn't fix the offset it was over mentally. Having an audience doesn't bother me, it's failing again and being uncertain about what's next does. What bothers me is that I have no access to a truck outside of the school, so practicing is extremely limited -
It took me awhile to pass my drivers test don't worry you will get it I was a nervous wreck when I took my cdl test 9 years ago

Chinatown I do want to thank you specifically for the employment advice. I'm assuming you took the time to look over my post history. I have a general idea of what I'm going to do and where I'm applying once I have the license. I may start the process of applying for the union jobs I waited for after getting the license since its taking much longer than I expected it would. Luckily I'm not in a dire situation financially but that said, I'm not happy where I am either. Just adds to the disappointment
