Many state testers have never driven anything bigger than a car.
When I got certified as a tester we learnt to test poeple on everything you need a commercial licence for.

To me this sounds weird, if there were no tracks in the snow then maybe the tester did not see it correctly, but I remember being told that you might have 2 seperate testers in a truck and they will both pick up on different things, one might see something the other dosent.

If they are doing the cdl state test then he has to follow state guildlines even if hes working for prime and primes level is much higher than the states.
We tested to "Basic Minimum Skills" as the state we tested in instructed us to, but when doing evals once you got your cdl and back from otr training the company test was a lot harder.

Also we had a policy never to retest the same person for the reasons stated in the above post.

I would have him ask his trainer how to go about having a second person testing him.

Good Luck, He will pass, just tell him not to stress out before the test.

The day I tested for my CDL in Michigan, I was the 5th one that day and the 4 before me had all failed, and 2 of them had been Veteran drivers, so I was nervous, but I passed only because he said I never broke any traffic codes, He was a former DOT officer and I never met a tester so strick!.

I went through every post waiting for that one. That's great and I'm sure his confidence is back up. Now kick him out and tell him to make lots of money.

    Congrats on the passing!

The first "tester" (and I use that term generously) sounds as if he has never had "the power" and likes to use it to fail people. Had a few school instructors like that, particularly the younger ones.
