Ok At least one of my batteries are wet with battery acid. And it stinks. Company will replace it or all of them. The TA batteries are better than those in there.

Go to Wal-Mart. Get 4 new Johnson control built batteries. $100 each with core return.

Hey the batteries are being toasted. What's you describe is the result of overcharging the batteries and that will cause problems with their lives, killing them quickly.

Edit- the problem with overcharging is that there is a serious issue with the trucks electrical or charging system.

However I wonder what's really going on, you describe the setup to a point, where is the inverter - is it a factory or company inverter or is it your own?

Did you test it with anything else like a light or charger?

Did the inverter go into low voltage mode, which it will or should shut down when the output hits 90volts.

This is melton company truck. 2015 KW t680. It has an inverter and 4 batteries (not 6 like I thought). It has a Thermo King tri pac APU. Truck is at 300k miles, half of those I put on it. The majority of our 1500 company drivers have the same setup. Another driver I know just replaced his batteries too and had same odor. I have spent a lot of time in the Thermo King shops nation-wide just getting that unit fixed. In 18 months I’ve lost at least 3 weeks of work sitting at Thermo King. I cannot say I like the setup. I wouldn’t be surprised if the batteries are being abused and overcharged. Seems like there’s always an issue.

Newer drivers are being given 2018 KWs with no APU. It just idles.

We had issues with a truck and batteries being cooked. It was the APU that was throwing out 16 volts to them. Once the APU was fixed (carrier did the work), we haven't had an issue. Most of the trucks have the Maxwell starter battery and two house batteries for everything else.
